At last I have decided to dive in and get a cell phone.
I see that there are three companies Telus,Rogers, and Fido (owned by rogers)
My next choice is weather to get a camera phone or not.
I already have a digital camera, so do I need another one?
Which company? my internet is with telus. I have not had any problems dealing with them.
I was looking at a certian phone. The LG6190. Seems to be pretty good.

I see that each company carries different phones.

Better to get a 3 year deal or a shorter one? How about Pay as you go?

As you can see I need some advice or some ideas? Any canadian web sites where I can compare rates etc.?

Thanks for your help

My 2¢

Any other options on a cell other than whats needed to make it a phone is lame and just a money grab. $300 for a fukkin cell phone.....you gotta be outta your fukkin mind!!!!

PDA's are dieing ie: palm and pocket PC, so if you need a phone/PDA make sure it's a phone first.

Like hifi said, P as U G is lame, always having to buy a fukkin card is a hassle, shitty phone selection aswell.

I've been cell phone free over 2yrs now and don't miss it a bit.

-no worries to loose it
-no one bugging me when i'm out
-can make excuses why i didn't call back
-stupid fukkin battery always seem to be dieing
-lotsa times when someone phoned I was busy and just had to say "I'll call ya back later" well later I was home and could just use the "home" phone.

hmmm....lemme look at my Rogers bill......

150minutes + unlilmited eves and weekends - $35.00
mobile internet(annoying dont do it)- $3.00
911 emergecy Svc acess fee - $0.50
System access fee - $ 6.95 (a customer service rep admitted to me that this was a rip off but all the companies are doing it so "what are you gonna do?")
Essential value package - $12.00 (voicemail, call id, that sort of stuff. i love the name. if it is essential, why is it charged for?)
G.S.T. - $4.02
P.S.T. - $4.02
total for my $35.00 monthly contract - $65.49

other than the bills i have not had any troubles with customer service or reception on Rogers.

i did have a problem with the phones that i chose. right now i have a motorola t720. it is extremely quiet even on the loudest setting. the number of calls i have missed just because i didnt hear the damn thing are too many to count. i also used to have a motorola v60. the reception on that phone was terrible. it improved dramatically with the 720. now if i could only hear the phone when it rings.

I think my phone is a Motorola V-710 at least under the battery thats what it says??? I'm happy with the phone itself quality and all. only real Compliants with the phone, I dislike phones that ring out loud so I set it to Vibrate, this phone does not vibrate hard enough to feel it so I do miss the odd call. Also this phone will not store more then 1 phone number per name entry.

The service is Telus I have been with them for over 10 years no real complaints other than haveing to talk to the machine (hate that) every once and a blue moon.

How come you guys have to talk to your phone carrier so much? I might do it once a year if that.
