I was listning to my favourite St. Louis Sports Radio show today, to get my info on the Rams, and they were mentioning that the St. Louis Rams are VERY intrested in signing Casey Printers, as the St. Louis Rams have inquired about him, since Chris Chandler the back up QB will be retiring very soon, and Casey can learn the NFL game from Marc Bulger who is the starter for the Rams. I also think the Miami Dolphins have inquired about him too.

Being under contract in the last year of your contract in the CFL makes you eligible to play in the NFL should they come calling.

That's the deal the league signed with the NFL 4 or 5 years ago.

Casey Printers is no Warren Moon ... he'll be a 3rd stringer there for the rest of his career. What would you rather do, be a big fish in a small pond - or carry someone else's jock strap until you retire?

Carrying the jock strap in the NFL pays a lot more than starting in the CFL.

I didn't think he'd be back next year. He's shown that he's got some talent and some it'll be nice to see a NFL team give him a chance.

Too bad he didn't get to show his skill in the final. Stupid Wally....

He is under contract to the CFL for 2005 then he is in his option year in 2006 and can be signed by the NFL.

Let's see...pension plan in the NFL, slightly bigger money....learn the ropes for a couple of years...why wouldn't he go if he had the shot???

This is especially true for the QB position... guys play in the CFL, NFL Europe, Arena League, etc because if you can actually play games and take snaps the you improve your game and have a chance to get noticed by the NFL. It used to be that if you didnt get drafted into the NFL it was next to impossible to become a starter. But the success of QBs coming out of these leagues has opened the eyes of a lot people.

Guys like Printers come to the CFL in hopes of playing and getting noticed by the NFL.
