If the Canucks win the NW, they get third spot meaning their play either Columbus or Anaheim. Both of those teams are scary. Ducks aren't the same team that won the cup but they still have Perry, Getzlaf, Pronger and Niedemeyer and have been very hot lately. Blue Jackets have a great goalie and Ken Hitchcocks teams always play very tight defensively. I think we have a better chance against Chicago whose very talented up front but they don't have much experience and I'm not that keen on Chicago's goaltending. So I hate to say this but lose the last two games Vancouver...

Possibly

I think the Canucks have about an equal chance against Chi, Col, or Ana...

Canucks never make it easy on themselves...so expect 6 or 7 games if the Canucks are going to win any series.

Also, Columbus would be boring ass hockey, so let's hope its Chicago or Anahiem.

Chicago or Columbus?

Realistically, the Canucks will play either the BlowJobs (if we end up in 3rd) or Sickago (if we end in 5th).

Either one, bring 'em on. At least we're in!

Such a crapshoot the first round.

Like Chi's run' n' gun offence, lots of young talent. And remember the fight filled game that we just had?

Would prefer to play them for both entertainment value and think we have a decent shot against that kind of team.

With BJs, series would be a goaltending battle.

Luongo will make or break us either way. But I have confidence in him; he's a special breed. That guy's gonna end up with a Cup some day- just hope that it's here.

I worry about a team being too fast for Vancouver to handle... I really don't think we're fast enough. I also don't think it really matters who we face, they will all be difficult in their own way.

What's interesting will be Luongo's ability to take his level to what we saw yesterday. It's been interesting that this year seems to show us that he picks his games he shows up for. The first year he was here he maintained that level all season to kind of prove he is worth the signing? If that's fact then we should have nothing to worry about from Luongo.

Bring it on!

Is there really a WEAK team in the playoffs? No matter who the Canucks face, it's going to be a test.:)
As everyone knows, in the playoffs, anything can happen & will happen. The team with their mojo in tack will prevail so let the games begin.
Glad to see Rypien back. He is another Burrows in the making but the difference is, he has the fists to back up his actions. Injury prone yes but who else could you put in to fill that important role.

All teams will be tough ,but at least games vs Chicago should be much more entertaining to watch over the Blue Jackets.

when was the last time the Canucks, or should I say the Nucks:rolleyes: , were not a team to watch according to you...

let's call a spade a spade...

you pick them every year because you're a Nucks fan...

I'm going to make a prediction...

next year the Canucks will be a team to watch according to HotAC...

A quote from somewhere:

"Nucks should lose and be 2nd.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If they finish first in the division they play StLou, Ana, or worse the Jackets.
All three hotter than electonics bought in a mall parking lot!

Better to face the slumping Hawks.

How to do it without making it obvious................
They lost to the worst team in the West(Lanche) at home, so it could be done.
They play them in Colorado to finish up.

But........just maybe......Calgary has the same idea too.
Drop two to arch rival Oilers...............
If I was either coach and had a pick it would be HAWKS!

Food for thought."

ok i will admit i am a canucks fan who doesn't ride the bandwagon so naturally i want them to win the cup. but as i see the west

detroit- awesome team but with somewhat suspect goaltending. but he has proven himself in the past so i think they are the team to watch.

san jose- have had great teams in the past but has never delivered in the playoffs and their top stars tend to fade in the playoffs. so they need to prove themselves to me before i rank them ahead of detroit.

calgary-well there goaltending has been suspect lately and kipper isn't in the top of the league in stats(save % or GAA) but they have two defensemen out right now in sarich and reghre so that hurts their team. but their forwards are pretty good so they have a chance.

chicago/columbus- young teams with some veteran players so its tough to know how they will do in the playoffs.

anaheim- dismanlted part of their team that helped them win the cup a few years ago but still have enough to challange some teams. but in tough being a 7/8 seed.

st. louis- i don't know enough about them but they seem to be coming on strong as of late but being the 7/8 seed will hurt them

and finally vancouver- as i said i am biased but they have a top flight goaltender who can steal games. their defense is solid with mitchell who can shut down other teams top player or lines. and they have two lines that can score. but anyteam coming out the west will have a tough time and anyteam thats isn't in the top three can surprise anybody and challange for the cup

"Mason has let in 3+ goals in 14 of his last 22 starts. I think this is a case of the hype taking over. The guy is a rookie goalie who is either slowing down due to the length of the season, or who is coming back down to earth. I would much rather face him than a Stanley Cup winner like Khabibulin. IMO."

I'm not necessarily disputing your point about HotAC (because I don't know if he picks the Canucks as a team to watch every year), but if you're saying that they're not a team to watch this year, then you're either delusional or you haven't been watching any hockey over the last few months. I'm not saying they'll get to the cup, but their chances this year are far better than they have been in years, and any other team in the NHL right now recognizes them as a potentially serious threat.

No combo burger of Sundin + Luongo in the past.
As a Canucks fan, I hate to have to point this out, but that's not the magic combo that some people seem to think it is. Sundin has been a useful addition to the team, but he's far from playing like a superstar. I expect the likes of Burrows and Kessler will be more important to the team in the post-season. Of course, as always in the playoffs, the most vital member of the team is the goalie, so Luongo is absolutely key.

It wouldn't hurt for the sisters to take their skirts off for the
real season for once either.

I don't get why so many of you guys beat on the Sedin's? They are both 30 + goals and play well. They are Swede's, they won't fight. They are good 2nd line players. The Nucks will go as far as Luongo takes them. Sundin needs to get scoring, 10 games no goals??
I thought they were Scots cuz of the skirts ; Seriously, though, they
are great regular season performers but regular no shows post op.
That is the main reason they are knocked up on. But with Sundin &
Luongo in the mix i have great expectations from them this playoffs.

Yet to prove themselves

The Sedin thing is really simple. Having solid regular seasons does not mean much when both have yet to prove themselves in the playoffs. If anyone can find some stats to support their solid playoff history - please post it for all to see.

The Sedins should be motivated as they are playing for a contract and this season is the ideal one for them. The Canucks have been playing better (I am not including COL/EDM/ANA games) do not have any major injuries - there is second line support from Kesler et al - and they have a goalie who also needs to prove himself by leading the team in the playoffs (i.e. stealing games - getting a shutout, etc).

Before any of you Canuckleheads goes off about Luongo - let's see what he does this season as his lone playoff experience in 2007 is IMO not enough to state that he is a playoff performer.

I would hope that any team who wins the Stanley Cup be able to defeat any team they face in the playoffs. Idealistic...yes.

If the the Canucks at least win the division title it is one accomplishment for the season. A team that wins both the division title and Stanley Cup can boast it was indeed one of the best teams all year. etc...etc..

Years down the road the teams most revered are the one's who earn the title of ' dynasty '. The Red Wings, Colorado and Habs have all earned that reputation and place in history. It is far better that title than the dark horse who comes and goes like a passing fancy.

Aww.. fuck it.... I guess it's all about winning Stanley ..... regardless of how it gets done !
