D - Sean Brown from New Jersey for a 4th Round Pick.

G- Mika Noronen from Buffalo for a 2nd Round Pick.

D - Keith Carney and the rights to Juha Alon from Anaheim for a 2nd Round Pick and D - Brett Skinner.

Trade D - Steve McCarthy to Atlanta for a conditional draft pick in 2007.

D - Eric Weinrich from the St. Louis Blues for a prospect and a 3rd Round Pick.

Wow, I didn't think Lardass Nonis was going to do anything. I like the Noronen trade.

Just what the 'nucks need.... another dead beat goalie.

I'm really surprised we didn't pick up Theodore... haha.. 'cause the nucks have a rep for picking up other teams garbage goalies...

Can't believe Colorado swapped for him.. bad move.. the guy ca'nt save a deflated beach ball to save his life and his dad is a criminal.

What about Samsonov? Goes to Edmonton as a rental. Wouldn't he have been a better target for Nonnis? I would love to know if they were even in the hunt.

They aren't bad trades, nor are they good. It's what Nonis could squeeze out of the system with no cap room...which brings us back to Fraud and his fat salary to do pirouettes and refuse to back-check. Now that he sees the writing on the wall he'll probably dog it even more (if that's possible). Why try if you're going away, anyway? Still think he drags the team's whole energy level down and they'll never go anywhere with him in the line-up.

well put Cock. I would have been happy to give Bertuzzi away for a couple of picks just to free up the cap space. This team needed a jolt, needed to be shocked back into reality and the mix needed to be changed. Addition by subtraction is sometimes the most effective way to improve your situation. Unless Bertuzzi puts this team on his back and leads them to the final (yeah, right) he will be dealt in the summer, guaranteed. His salary will be used to resign Jovo, the Sedins and Carter. In the meantime, another first round exit is on the way!

man...I gotta admit....I ate my own words....I posted something earlier on this subject..
I honestly thought they would do nothing!!!
I'm impressed!!
I thought the pick ups they did were pretty decent.....really.
There was not much to begin with...slim pickings and keeping with the salary cap...is an issue now.. I think they did good!
Edmonton on the other hand did awesome!! Those 2 pick ups should do well for them in my opinion!!
What I think is gonna happen with Big Bert because it was expected that something might happen with him..........is that they'll wait.
If he sucks in the playoffs ....they'll trade him in the off season!!
That's my call!
Going into the playoffs....you kind of don't what to rock the boat kind of thing...not that he's doing much right now anyway....but still.

cheers

if auld and the new guy can get the job done then GOOD-BYE mr. clouts!!!!!!!!!!!! (can you say $3 mill saving???)

and if the forwards don't start producing then its bye-bye bert ... $5 mill can buy some decent talent or make room to sign the Bros. Incorporated. That's a line that shouldn't be broken up.

nazzie will retire next year, leaving morrison to be on the second or third line.

linden will retire, more salary room.

this team is playing for profit this season ... no way they will go deep in the playoffs, but next year they already look better.
