Got this from score.ca...doesnt' sound too convincing does it?

CANUCKS
Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin are finally undisputed leaders of the Canucks power play. They will join captain Markus Naslund on the first unit, with Mattias Ohlund and newcomer Lukas Krajicek manning the point. The second unit looks less certain. Matt Cooke, Taylor Pyatt, and Brendan Morrison are the top candidates up front, while Sami Salo and possibly rookie Luc Bourdon (if he makes the squad) will hold the blue line.

Not to worry...

The Canucks will be boring, slow and have a losing record this season...

Feel sorry for Canuck fans:(

They are putting way to much faith on Loungo.....For me....This is the first year ......in many many years I have no confidence in the Canucks going into the season!!!
I'd be very surprised to see all the games sell out this year....Unless people are stupid with there money and support a losing team!!!
I'm interested on how many Pay per view they will issue and how many fishes will bite......and lose!!!

probably true on both accounts: According to the Van Sun (sat ed.)
he wants to stay $2mil under the cap and still has something like
8 guys to sign and the team total is about $37 mil already ... so he
would have to take a bit of a chance on a $1mil player at this point.

Does anyone know which remaining players need to be signed that are not unrestricted?

Funny, my brother's wife calls Nonis "No-Nards". Before, I used to laugh, but this off season, I think he has shown some balls to make some fairly significant moves. Most of his moves were "forced", but at least he did something.

My outlook for the year. They will probably do okay, maybe 6-8th spot.

I rarely post here but when there people who haven't done their homework on the Canucks then it's time to step up.

Ok lets get this straight Canucks still have 4 of their top 5 scorers: Sedin,Sedin,Morrison,Naslund are top 1st line talent that can compete with anyone in the league. The Canucks have only lost little offence but when you factor in all the players that are PLUSES that means less goals scored against. So really Canucks are a better team that can play a two way game similar to Carolina and Buffalo.

For the person who called the team slow? ARE YOU FUCKIN KIDDING ME? Canucks got faster this year with the additions of Bulis, Pyatt(Very good skater), and Kraijec.

Nonis is doing superb job with the Canucks bringing in their first marquee goaltender in franchise history.

Wasn't Felix Potvin the first 'marqee' goalie?

Ummm speaking of HOMEWORK you might want to do some.

The top five GOAL scorers on the Canucks for 2005/2006 regular season in descending order are :

1) Anson Carter -33 goals , 2) Markus Naslund -32 goals , 3) Todd Bertuzzi- 25 goals , 4) Daniel Sedin- 22 goals , 5) Brendan Morrison - 19 goals .

No! He was should-have been-Has-been!
As far as im cocerned he can have a seat rite next to kelly hrudey or ryan walter and still be the perfect center piece for useless tv side kicks

where in my posts did I say strictly goals?

I said scorer's specifically points, you cannot argue me about the Canucks because I know almost everything about the new team and this is coming from a die-hard fan.

I've always regarded scoring as "GOALS" but I guess it's often regarded as combined points of assists and goals so I guess you're correct in that case.

But that said, the Canucks have a serious deficit now with players who can actually put the puck in the net. And Nonis seems to believe that CARTER, who had that knack with his linemates, isn't that important to that formula.

Hey, why go with the tried and true ?

I don't think Nonis believes that Carter isn't important. He just can't afford to pay him what he wants.

I don't think Carter is worth what he is asking. 9 million over 3 years. He's the type that will do well in the final year of his contract. If he's that good and well thought of by the league, some team would have made a pitch to get him.

I think the tell all about Carter is in his stats....relatively few assists. But he does have a knack with Sedins at knowing how to get the puck in the net. So I can understand why other GMs would be reluctanct to pick him up for that price. And Carter would probably return to his lack lustre stats without the Twins.

Nonis didn't even make him an offer and he even went to the media to say so. He didn't even offer another one year, or for less than his asking.
