I get the impression that Nonis is not too concerned about losing Anson and therefore must feel replacing him won`t be too difficult. As always, time will tell if Nonis is correct or not

I think that the Canucks made Carter an offer, which was low, so Carter is testing the market. He will end up signing with the Canucks as long as the Flyers or anyone else hasn't made a ridiculous offer. I think Carter wants to play in Vancouver, but he also isn't going to leave a wack of $ on the table if someone else offers him big bucks. I don't think the Canucks can affor to pay him big $.

Carter has never had it as good as when he is paying with the Sedins, and The Sedins never had it so good when Carter is on their line. Both sides here want to make the deal. They just have to agree not to insult each other with rediculous offers and make it happen.

The sedins are useless without carter. If carter goes elsewhere ...we should trade away the sedins.
That is a comment without much thought. I'm not sure that if we do resign Carter that he will have the same success. There are a lot of players who are in their final year of their contract, play very well to get the big money contract and afterwards, they do jack shit. Perfect example was Bertuzzi. After Burke gave him the big contract, he did shit. He only can the one good year, the year when his contract was up.

Let Carter Go!

 Carter was nothing before he played with the Sedins and the Sedins are still the same players they were before Carter arrived. I don't think the twins have changed their game that much and their linemates, being whoever will benefit from that. Remember B.J. Macdonald? Without 99 he was and later proved he was nothing without 99.

Vancouver tried to find someone to play with the Sedins for years before they got Carter on a "fire sale". There is a chemistry there. They should ride it until its all used up. You're right, Carter withour the Sedins will go back to being a journeyman role player who will get bounced around the league. However, for the sake of the "brothers" line, sign him!

Such is the reason for incentive laden contracts.

Gretzky was not eligible for the Calder Trophy in his first year in the NHL.

He tied Marcel Dionne for points but Dionne was given the Art Ross as he had more goals.

Yeah? But who won the Calder Cup in Gretzkey's first year in the NHL?

I'm gonna step out on a limb here and flame away if you guys so wish, but beleive it or not LAG has a good point here IMHO !

What the hell were the Sedins twins before Carter joined their lineup,
how much did THEY contribute before Carter made the chemistry of what
that line did last season??

Jack shit in my opinion.

With those three together they put more points on the board than the big
line did in the entire season. Okay, I don't say trade the Sedins but if
Carter goes, who can fill his shoes to make that line what it was last
season? It's all about chemistry and if the nucks screw that up then the
fans really will pay to see shit float for sure.

Don't forget without that lineup who the hell is going to put pucks
in the net? Oh yah, Naslund is gonna do it all by himself this year, like he
did last season? If that's all we are gonna go on for offence, Luongo is going to be one busy goaltender saving our ass.

I just hope that its not for the sake of the twins being in a final year of their contract. We've all seen that before.

Yah no kidding, and if that is the case and Carter goes and we wait 'till
the end of next season to see what happens to the Sedin twins, we'll be
talking about why they didn't trade them now when they look like they
did before Carter joined them.

Oh the irony of it all, who knows maybe, but like you said we've all
seen that before too. Somehow with all this said, the real irony here is that it seems the nucks are gonna take a page out of Calgary and go with a hot
goaltender a couple of D's that look promising and maybe one or two good
forwards to bank on for all their offence.

Christ I hope not.

Yup if they wanna make a difference this season they better keep the
Sedins and Carter together for at least this season and then worry about that bridge later when they have to cross it. Of course this is all relevant
if that line produces this season like they did of last.

TSN reports that Carter is seeking around 3M per season over 3 years. That is too rich for the nux under the salary cap. No 2 ways about it.

Looking at the line up, we have some glaring holes that need to be addressed and not alot of $, so to throw 3M at one player would probably leave us with about 5M to fill all the gaps (If Nonis is trying to keep the payroll at 42M like he stated, for wiggle room). We'd still another top line RWinger, maybe someone who can score on the bottom 2 lines, and perhaps some insurance on D.

Realistically you will see King back with the Sedins.

As for the Sedin bashers, ferKristsake, they are just becoming men (shaving and everything). They've become better year after year, look more confident and will eventually be our top line. I believe in those freaks.

Carter was decent, but he could have had 60 goals if he had better hands. Brookbank had 2 goals in 4 games a couple years ago playing with them... Brookbank.

Nux should see if they can trick Shannahan somehow into signing on.

I have a feeling based on Carter's reputation that as soon as he receives a contract such as 3 million a season for 3 years, that he'll be the shits for year 1 and 2 and then he'll have a decent 3rd year. I say give him one year for 3 million.
