Cancun

I'm heading off to Cancun next week and was checking to see if anyone had any suggestions of what or who to try down there.

Thanks for the tips, I chose Cancun as it was the cheapest place available. I wanted to go to Cuba but there were no reasonable trips to Havana. I heard that most of Cancun was up and running again. I guess I will find out next week.

I was in Cancun in the late 90's. best things were the snorkel trips, a trip to Isla Mujeres, and a trip to Xcaret. I liked Xcaret for the kilometres-long snorkel in an underground river (not always underground). If you decide to do that at Xcaret, there may be lots of people and you may be swimming directly behind someone...so get behind a good looking babe in a bikini!!
And buy your ticket directly from the Park office in Cancun (wherever it is). I have friends who bought at their hotel and got charged something like 80-100 bucks each for what should have been $50-60

Places like Tulum are doing fine.....nicely restored.

Its mostly back up and running.
i have not been myself in about 11 months, but friends were there just a week ago.

Personally i love cancun !

met a lot of really nice people, and had a lot of fun.

I barely slept as i was always out having fun...i hope you can live on 3 hours sleep a day.

Man you have to love a happy hour with 50 cent beers

food is awesome at most resort and hotel...do NOT under any circumstances eat sushi in mexico

-Xcaret & Xel Ha.....'eh I could take or leave if I go back.....basically they're both really big water parks. Lots to see and do but very much tourist traps and unless you're they're in the off season expect lines.

Xel Ha is really nice. With the all-inclusive option at Xel Ha, it is a better value for your dollar than Xcaret.

Consider buying underwater cameras in Canada before your trip, they are expensive there.
