Yes, the liberals are incompetent/corrupt. But the conservatives are far stupider ie when Erin O'Toole tried to expand the base by including climate activists he got knocked by the hard liners. i'm turned off by the conservatives because it seems they like white and Christian only.

Interesting there hasn't been any commentary about the report on the WE scandal. It once again highlights how systemically corrupt the Liberals are. While Trudeau displays incompetence with regards to virtually everything he touches, he also has the built-in corruption gene his party carries. Not only were the contracts awarded without anyone else being asked to bid, but they threw up every roadblock possible to avoid compliance with the committee probing the scandal.
If you read about those WE characters and all their connections you will realize that they have their hooks into ALL the major political parties. Don't kid yourself that it is just the Liberals. The Liberals are simply in the spotlight at the moment. The problem is that these sorts of characters always circle around the public purse no matter who is in control.

I think the border situation is this. Canada wants to be left alone, if Trudeau really was to have his wish he would want that border shut for good and forever to keep Canadians safe forever.

I don't blame him Covid is never going away, who needs visitors? Not Canada.

I agree
Oh...and shut down immigration as well.....
No more flights in or out of Canada.....
Sounds like a great idea to me....
No more ...walk across the border and demand asylum....
No more imports or exports....
Canada has enough resources to support it self.....wood, oil, electricity, food, metals ect ect ect
Just tell the whole world to fuck and leave us alone....not just the USA.

Cdn Government to support 3rd world countries with 100 million doses of vaccine. From the G7 conference.
Cdn pop is around 38 million, so 2 shots is 76 million.
I think they should contribute at least 200-300 million doses.
I also think they should set up a fund me page for cdns to help give to the poor in other countries for vaccines.

What if each country in the G7 gave 2 billion doses?

If an election was called today it looks like the Liberals have a 48% chance of gaining a majority and a 93% chance of forming government. Conservatives have fallen to an all-time low. I wonder if the government's hugely successful covid-19 vaccine rollout, which the Conservatives tried to keep denying was successful, secured their popularity and the Conservatives demise?

The problem with another Trudeau majority will be the king of all mistakes financially for Canadians. Trudeau believes in spending money on "the masses", without creating economic jobs that will be secure in the future. Harper's government bet on oil (which logically seemed ok at the time), but the US started to drill its oil reserves and prices fell.
With Covid and the passing of the economic slow down due to covid, and the amount of money spent to keep the lubrication of money flowing from mortgages/rent to banks and around again, the federal government spent alot of money it doesn't have (really those 20 year old will be paying off Covid till they are in their 90s). What is needed is a logicial plan to use Canadian resources wisely, which will make money and benefit future generations.
1. Securing borders- when push come to shove, Canada cannot protect its borders alone, it just does not have the infrastructure in place or people or equipment to prevent China from drilling in Arctic waters. And you can't rely on the US up there.
2. Resources have to be separated from the Renewable (like trees/farming) and un renewable (oil, mineral etc.) All these material should be going into Canadians as a whole, not to make rich individuals or companies that pay exceptionally low taxes for Canadian resources.
3. More Canadian manufacturing, but lets be practical, nobody wants Canadian manufactured stuff, they (other countries) want to produce their own. This should include making 100% of own oil, and gasoline, no imports. Prime example some stupid politicians thinking they can sell Candu reactors, or the Frigates they built in the 1990s.
4. Have to massively invest in recycling of materials. From garbage in houses to electronics and cars/trucks, organics (food waste), plastic reclamation (other uses for unrecyclable plastics).
5. Be an energy exporter. Oil and Electricity.
6. Every home a Net-Zero home. New homes have to be designed to meet stricter codes. One of those should be not to burn down. Without the use of chemical fire retardant.
7. Change the Marine laws. Only 1 stop in Canada, exception Great Lakes/US ships. If the ship has 2 stops in Canada, it has to be registered under Canada.
8. If you are a Canadian citizen, and have a boat/ship/yacht, you must register your ship in Canada, no exceptions; even if you keep your boat in the Bahamas.
9. If you have undeclared overseas bank accounts and found out, you will go to jail for 1 year for every 10,000.00; or pay a fine of 80% of amount in bank accounts.
10. Banks will move there HQ back to Canada, and pay the taxes owed to Canadian government.

Sounds drastic doesn't it, but hey so is climate change and its only going to put people in the hot seat......

The thing is Canada needs ships for economic reasons, too often companies and people have skirted the rules and went to flags of conveniences. The Canadian codes have a higher standard too.

My advice to the tories, would to do short term projects that people can see the impact of: then move on to bigger projects after the 2nd term...

I agree and none of this is that drastic.
But how about this one. Tax the Churches. All of them. Same as any business.

I don't want to say the Conservatives are stupid, but in the last 3 1/2 months they've . . .

-voted down a party resolution to recognize climate change as real

-voted against a bill to ban gay conversion therapy

-voted for an unenforceable bill to ban sex-selection abortion

You don't win elections by publicly putting your party on the wrong side of every issue.

I know you're being sarcastic, but Canada has valid concerns about the situation in the United States.

As of the end of May, only 31% of Republicans were vaccinated, compared to 59% of Democrats.

So before the border is opened, we have to have a system in place to block those who refuse vaccination.
