The most amusing picture so far is this one of the American skater Ashley Wagner before and after she saw her scores:

This is the girl who actually came 4th in the trials for the Olympics, but was given the spot on the team ahead of the third placed skater because of her "prior performances" (Translation: she had more powerful friends).

Good thread Vanessa.
But why do the Olympic coverage seem so boring this year

I have mixed feelings about these pictures. Partly I feel bad for her, because she was obviously really happy with her performance and then had her dreams crushed. Partly I feel like she's probably a wee bit entitled and used to everything going her way. Partly she just reminds me way too much of one of my exes. Seriously, they could be sisters and it's freaking me out a little.

^^^ Figure Skaters!!

No dreams crushed...it was the team event, she still got a bronze medal.

And remember, she was given Mirai Nagasu's spot on the team. Nagasu had dreams too.

Somehow I don't think anyone competing in a team event dreams of getting a middle-of-the-pack score. They dream of winning their part of it (or at least being in the top 3) so that everyone sees that they contributed to their team's victory instead of being seen as dead weight. And yeah, I know she took the spot of the actual 3rd-ranked US skater on the team. That's part of why I also think she's probably kind of entitled and used to things going her way.
