Canada trying to ban CL like USA - Vancouver Sun

Did anyone else read that article in Saturday's Van Sun?

What a load of horse crap. I mean I can see about the under age girls, but banning the internet ads will only drive these sickos back into the drakness that they came from. I don't know the number but a high % of ads are legit folks making a living the way they want to. I'd even wager 99%.

Why not leave things as they are so that they have a way busting the scum involved with kids or human traffiking (which I also doubt exists in large numbers).

WTF does LE think? " Oh no, we can't post on CL...we're finished..I will go work at McDonalds now" Puhleese...looks like it's back to news papers and word of moth. Let's drive it right back underground. Sounds good to me,then I don't need to worry as much about getting caught with my pants down.

CL does more good than bad in my eyes. Just wondering what your thoughts are if you read it.

I read that article and the RCMP are just starting to look at CL now because of the underage kids from North Van who are being pimped out.

CL is starting to use more checks to make sure the gals are of legal age but if a pimp does the ad how are they going tp know?

It has only been two short months since Craigslist agreed to remove the "Erotic Section" in the US. There is no certainty that this will occur in Canada, but do not be getting your shorts in a bind about it.

In just that very short time, it has become almost a non-event. Former ES ads have been shifted around to other sections (thereaeutic, Casual encounters) and a new category--Adult--has been created.

While ads in this new category require payment by CC, and they receive some screening, they are still there, albeit, with less erotic wording and pictures. On the plus side, the number of ads in this section has been reduced greatly since it is no longer free.

It could be a lot worse when old timers had to rely on newspapers.
