Very toughly played game with tons of hits and our forwards kept well away from taking a decent shot.

I wonder if any NHL GM's are taking a serious look at Ted Nolan now? This guy always has produced winners and it was Muckler who through him under a bus when he coached the Sabres. I said it before that Nolan would look good behind the bench before Torts was hired here.

If they beat Canada the Latvians are going to be tough to be in the medal round IMHO. Another "Miracle on Ice?"

Canada vs U.S. The ongoing rivalry with our south of the boarder friends is always dangerous lol.

Any of the final four could take gold, it's too close to call it.

Props to Latvia for standing on their heads to stop us and make it soooo close!

Heard Marc Crawford say 7 - 1 for Canada this AM. He is the same guy who had Gretzky on the bench during an Olympic Shootout. I knew we were in for a game when Crow has an opinion LOL

gotta give the Latvian goalie a standing ovation!
shades of a '94 Kirk McLean, Game 1 vs Rangers.

personally, I wasn't impressed with Canada's play to date, and they better
turn up the heat or it's GAME OVER vs USA. USA imo, has been the best team in the tourney so far.
much faster and quicker than TC to compare the two and US will be gunning for revenge Friday.

up to this point, the over analyzing of who gets to play with Sid is verging on stupidity.
he hasn't been a factor all tourney. he might as well not be there and it wouldn't
change the team dynamic one bit.

from what I've seen so far, I'll say USA is the best team going to the Gold medal game.

what's your guy's take on Canada vs US?

And only now do I find out that Russia's Hockey Team is shut out of any medals!?!?!?!

Why didn't anybody say anything!!!???!

The game was kind of dull. At least the talk of converting NHL arenas to the bigger ice is dead.

I am all for having cheerleaders dancing when their is a stoppage in play.

Canada vs US. We have a history of rising to the occasion in big games, we haven't looked as strong as the yanks so far, but they haven't played a top 4 team yet.
I predict Canada wins 3 - 2

Was good to see Ozolinsh still playing well almost 20 years after he won the cup. Tampa's got a great goalie prospect in Gudlevskis, I'll bet that Lindback is panicking right now. Shades of Arturs Irbe in his prime.

The European trap might be boring to watch but if that's what it takes for other nations to be competitive, so be it. Every team in every league utilizes it in some way, and the only way to muster up new interest in smaller countries is to have success (either locally or/and internationally). Latvia is doing a great job of it, Dynamo Riga is actually a pretty good KHL team despite having a much smaller payroll.

Was very happy with Kenins showing. I remember a lot of talk about Indraisis when Vancouver invited him and Kenins to prospect camp last year but Kenins really stood out for me. I think he'll be a solid addition to Utica next season and hopefully a decent bottom 6er in the future.

And only now do I find out that Russia's Hockey Team is shut out of any medals!?!?!?!

Why didn't anybody say anything!!!???!

Russia's been a paper dragon since.. well, the fall of Communism. They've got serious issues in player development. Every player growing up wants to be a star forward and those who can't become defensemen. Which gives them a pretty subpar nation defense and a severe lack of 2-way forwards (Datsyuk excluded). Not to mention their coaching was terriawful, Malkin had to tell his coach when to pull the goalie to put on the extra attacker.

Im very impressed with Peyton's knowledge of hockey....not just Canucks but the international game ! She knows her stuff and more than most guys! I wasn't even aware of their Latvian prospect until she mentioned it.

I agree with the issues regarding Russia's defence. Surely they must have some younger mobile d-men in the KHL. Their last good showing in the Olympics was in Nagano '98 where they placed second, but they have done good in the world juniors. Could not believe they started Varlamov. Where would Canada be without Doughty or Webber? Probably the same fate as Russia.

I hate to say it, but Canada is going down tomorrow. Price is going to be lighten up.
