I'm willing to bet that a winning team like the Blackhawks with all of their young guns would not indulge in shooters, schnaps, brandies and Dom Pernignon champagne after losing.
Where is the discipline in a group of millionaire athletes near the bottom of the entire league mid-season? Perhaps, just perhaps, there is too much money in the hands of athletes who have let their fans down on the ice and now off the ice.
This is not the restaurant owner's problem - the responsibility rests squarely on the shoulders of the the GM and his management/coaching team, and on all of the players including those wearing the 'C' and the 'A's.
No one in the Oilers organization has said that they did not consume all that they are alleged to have consumed. Rather, they just 'wined' about being overcharged and not getting a 'professional team discount' after the fact.
The party obviously helped the Oilers improve their game faces...or did it? Only several nights later they iced the same team that was in the restaurant and added Fernando Pisani BUT achieved the same losing result.
It surely tells this former Oiler fan and the average Joe who can only keep his head above water financially and cannot afford to eat at Osteria de Medici at anytime, including on New Year's Eve, that these athletes are scam artists and that they are taking advantage of us (the fans) who pay their freight. It is just as well that Heatley continued on to a hockey team, rather than being tarnished / varnished by the guys who distinguished themselves on New year's Eve. Kevin Lowe has bigger problems than Mac T and no Heatley.
