Anyone have experience buying used phone off craigslist? My phone is almost dead and thinking of getting a Nexus 4 or 5. I seen some ads about phones being IMEI black listed after they were sold. Any tips on what safety precaution I should take if I do get a used phone off craigslist?

I had a smartphone stolen while in the USA and managed to turn it into a brick within 30 minutes.
Would you take a chance on buying a brick? If the deal sounds too good to be true it usually is, right?
Only way to check if it's good to go is to see if it works on your network with your SIM card. Are you prepared to do that at a Starbucks?
There are plenty of reputable places to get refurbished phones or discontinued phones at a reasonable price.

Contact buyer if avail..when can meet..where they located.. What does

When u meet the buyer around skytrajn line or Starbucks. Put your sim
Card inside to test it works. If the phone come with original box n cables
Or its brand new... You should be fine.
I b skeptical if phone come with no box or charging cables or when i
Put my sim card in n it doesn't register to my carrier n can't make a test
Call out...
Sometimes i have a feeling from the seller that the phone is good
N i don't bother sim testing the phone n fork out the money...
U can tell if the seller is shady or trustworthy.. That's another ballgame
U will learn when u do this that long...
I got screwed twice.. Unlock phone..guy show a identical model n his friends
Phone is unlocked.. Ended up with a rogers phone..good part was i found
Someone to trade my rogers locked phone with his phone locked to my carrier.
Just remember if during the process with the buyer if
U feel uncomfortable in the deal.. Believe your spider senses...
