Buying and selling colored diamonds....have you done this ??

On a local call-in radio show today, there was talk about pensions and the different types of investments that you can have within your pension (GIC's/stocks/bonds, etc).

During the show they had callers calling in and asking questions....and one caller (sounded quite young) was boasting about buying colored diamonds and the excellent return that he's getting on them.

I called my financial advisor and asked him about what he knew about buying and selling colored diamonds. He didn't know how a person buys them or sells them. He said that they aren't advertised daily (like gold, silver, etc) so he doesn't know how you get pricing on them or what demand that there is for them.

So....I thought I would ask this question...have any of you ever bought and sold colored diamonds? Have you made any money with it? How do you do it? I don't think that I'm going to do it, but am wondering how it's done (in case I get itchy feet in the future!).

Sounds like a lot of leg work, I'll stick to my GE stocks which have tripled since I bought them less than a year ago. Wish I would have went on Ford and GM, would be rich if I did.
