Hey Folks,

I'm considering getting a new tv with 3D. But when I checked out a LG at Best Buy it seems like the technology isn't really that good yet. It's like the picture really isn't "that deep". Any you have to wear glasses too of course. Has anyone bought a 3D tv that they are happy with?? Is it worth paying the extra to have 3D??

thanks in advance

3D disks are expensive too I guess.
I would wait another 3 years to consider to buy it.
how much is it by the way?

Thanks. I would say the lowest priced, around a 40'' is about $1200. I saw a 55'' that was $1700. So maybe about 50% than just a basic LED tv

it doesn't sound crazily expensive, yet again, any 3D programs available on cable?

Wait until tech gets better, 3-D has it's fun moments, but I fond that the quality of the color, brightness and detail suffer as a result.

Technology evolves faster than any living organism on earth in a year or 2 there will be items that make current 3-D effects look sad.

I would wait - no shows or movies on 3D yet. Some 3D TV's "convert" regular shows into so called 3D but they are not very good quaility. Plus you often need glasses and so that means large groups of people can't watch along with you.

Given how easily I misplace my remotes it will be a long time before I buck up for a TV that requires I wear goggles to watch it.

My crystal ball tells me this technology is no where near ready and you will see lower cost / more user friendly 3D TV's out in the next couple of years.

I originally bought a samsung 51 inch thin plasma 3d tv for around 1700 with a sound system but I never used it and quickly traded it for a sony 55inch led that I love. Are you really gonna use the 3d that much? I guess it's good if you got kids!

I would forget the gimmicks like 3D, 240hz refresh (120hz is good enough) and even LED (unless weight and thickness is really important to you).

Hold fast and dont buy....when the basic 27" plasma screen first came out 12 years ago the price was well above 10 grand.....wait 6-9 months and when you do go shopping go south of the border and shop at a Costco in the USA....you would be surprised at the cost differential.
