Typically when you download a dvd movie there zipped...so what you need to do is unzip the files then burn the .img using a program called "DVD Decrypter"...If you rent movies or own them and wanna back them up...all you need to do is download a program called 'Dvd Shrink"...once program is downloaded...stick original movie into ur dvd+rw...open dvd shrink program....click Open Disk...that should take maybe a minute or two...then click Backup...this process takes about 30min to backup...then 30 minutes to burn.....Good Luck

Ps. This is basically the Coles notes version...but should give u a good start

I have got to the point of unzipping the download, some are in avi format but when you go to play them on windows media, there is no sound, when I go to burn them on the dvd the process won't start, as it says there is and error on the decoder?? WTF Man I feel brain dead today. Usually I can figure this crap out relativly easily, but this damn dell laptop came with its own DVD software and maybe thats the problem. who the hellknows.

.avi isnt really a true dvd file...so even if you do burn it to a disk...it probably wont work on ur dvd....One way to check would be to see how big the file is...generally a dvd file is around 4gigs....i find using a newsgroup program like 'newsleetcher' is the most effective way to find good dvd vids...dvd decrypter is in my opinion the best dvd burning software...u could use nero...either way u wanna burn the image file

did you up-grade or reinstall the dvd burner software? my laptop came with it loaded but not working ... i reinstalled it and then it prompted me to go on line and get a bunch of up-dates and then it worked.

i have never burnt a downloaded movie so can't help much further ... have done the rentals and programs and files

Typically with downloaded movies you need 3 codecs to play the variety of movies offered for downloading today. They are:

The ac3 codec
The divx codec
The xvid codec

All 3 can be found at afterdawn.com

To burn them to a red book standard DVD, that is the same style DVD as you buy from the store that will play in most players you will first need to use WinAVI video converter, 6.3 is the latest. This will convert the .avi to .vob and so forth to prepare the shit for burning.

Then with Nero, 6.6.0.8 is the latest edition you can burn to DVD and watch.
