You can use chatr, and activate the sim with a "placeholder" name, email, and address. You can then buy prepaid top up from 711. Literally no trace to you.
You can, but it is any cheaper / different that other prepaid offers? $15/month still does not buy any data if you use top up cards, only with credit card auto top up. I imagine MMS doesn't work without data either. The next plan is $25/month. That's quite a difference from Speakout $25/year.

What i do is that i use my primary phone as a wifi hotspot. Then theres no need for data.

That 25 a year is insane though. I wish i couldve gotten that instead of the 15 a month.

Gentlemen, you seem to have done your homework!
If I may request some advice, I posted a query in The Lounge which hasn't yet been answered (surely "burner phone fatigue" LOL), but I am considering ditching my "burner phone" and just keeping the 7-11 (SpeakOut) SIM card to insert in my regular iPhone when the "need" arises.
The Law of Averages suggests a second phone is bound to get discovered by a curious S-O at some point, so this is just preemptive caution...
I wanted to confirm that besides logging-out of my Apple ID before removing the regular SIM and activating the "SpeakOut" SIM by choosing "no Apple ID", is this otherwise a "safe" way to operate?
The phone history in "burner" mode shouldn't transfer back to my reactivated Apple ID when I reinstall my regular SIM, etc.?
Just double-checking that I'm not missing any other settings to be aware of, or hidden pitfalls of this "burner SIM" m.o.?
TIA

It sounds a bit time consuming TBH, and prone to a slip up with the Apple ID etc… when you’re either horny or in the happy fog of a post SP visit.

I’ve found that an easy way to hide the burner from prying eyes is in the box with tons of assorted cables, dongles and obsolete electronics collecting dust in the basement. Keep it password protected and turned off and only take it out when needed.

Not quite that easy.

You can expect some history (calls, texts, contacts) to be saved on the phone. So you'd need to clean those afterwards. Logging off from the Apple ID only prevents the history from being saved on the cloud. Other potentially incriminating evidence includes location history and any browser history (private mode in the browser helps). Other apps can have their own tracking, e.g. Facebook app will absolutely be able to connect your "normal" and "secret" identities if you log in to both from the same device.

This is true whether you SIM-swapping or using dual SIMs, whether physical or eSIM. So while I agree a burner phone can look suspicious, using one phone has other challenges. Another problem with dual SIM solutions, I might add, is that everybody makes a mistake eventually and initiates a text or call from the wrong SIM.

If you're smart, you use a burner phone for pooning. Most of them don't accept multimedia messaging.

So why do so many SP's answer questions by sending an MMS with services/prices or whatever? I never know what they might be, because I can't open them. I realize it's easier to try to answer potential questions that way, but don't SP's realize most pooners use the simplest, least traceable phones?

Not sure what a solution would be.
Actually it might be because in order to avoid spam texting, a lot of phone carrier won't allow you to send the same message over again on a short laps of time, it will deduct it's spam and won't send it, so sometimes when a SP send her menu she can have issues with the copy/paste message, but not with the picture
