I'm not just referring to street and poor people - I'm referring to ANYONE who cannot afford vet bills. I'm just of the opinion that you really need to plan and make sure you can afford a pet and EVERYTHING that comes along with it BEFORE getting the animal.
There are vets that give poor people free help. It is arranged through the street nurses (spaying, neutering, etc).

Having a pet is for life, your pet can live til hes 18 and die of old age, never needing a vet visit, or something can happen out of the blue and the vet bill can cost $1000. That should never stop you from having furry friends, even if you're homeless, why should we care, really. Through the centuries, animals have always lived out side. They are fine, as long as they are fed, watered, and loved properly, that's all that matters
