Damn disgusting this attitude towards our friends to the south.....have any of you ever heard Gordon Sinclairs salute to the Americans,?? Gordon was one of our great Canadians, you guys should check yourhistory a little more and maybe realize that without them you would be speaking Russian , Arabic and Korean. This board would not exist.!!!!

Kudos, Hifisex. I agree, there seems to be to many people out there that will knock America and Americans simply because it's trendy right now. Funny, though, they seem to love everything American - clothes, movies, music, food, their inventions like the internet, computer, car, etc. I'm not saying love them, right or wrong, but don't lay that Carolyn Parrish crap on us that everyone and everything American is fundamentlly evil. Gordon Sinclair was right, without the generosity Americans have displayed, many would be a lot worse off.

Even tho I agree on the essence of Sinclairs's discours, there's some points I don't totally agree :

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States Dollar build its own airplane
Airbus is AFAIK a very close competitor to Boeing, and it's european. On the smaller aircrafts, Bombardier (canadian) is not half bad either.

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon?
Simply because there's glory for the *first* to go, not for the second and the following. As long as there's no very critical reasons to go again, it's too expensive right now.

Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble?
Ok it's long time ago, but without France's tremendous help during the Independance War, the US would still be a colony of the Queen, or at least it would not have happened then.

Thaat said, I still greatly agree with the rest of the text. Too many people hates the US sometimes for the wrong reasons, or simply out of pure jealousy.

"I don't mind people hating us. The loser is never hated. The winner will always be."

The aibus and Bomardier issues do not qualify...these two airlines are virtually 100% supported by local governments in an attemt to "create" a counter airline mfr to Boeing, just look a tthe boondoggle of BA and airFrance in the supersonic field, all taxpaqyers dough up in smoke, look at air Canada, cant go bankrupt no matter how it tries, now Bombard is on the same gravy train our dough going to prop it up, I believe the figure is around a billion bucks they want a gov. gaurantee for. Times have changed for sure, when I arrived here the advice was.you dont...work,.. you dont eat..and it was true, no UI no Welfare, no pension plan, and I had dough left in my jeans after all was paid at the end of the week, sorry , I digress..I remember the bomb that fell on our front lawn in the old country and blew my mom and dad into the living room...thank goodness they survived!!!!

Airbus

Sure, Airbus was started using the combined financial muscle of the British and French governments, but it is now a highly profitable, independent company. It has even delivered more new aircraft over the past several years than Boeing. The A340 is a more efficient, albeit smaller and slower, widebody jet than the Boeing 747. And if you want to talk about government support, I'm sure Boeing's passenger aircraft division wouldn't be able to stand up alone, without all of the fat military hardware contracts coming in from good ole Warshington.

yes, without them damn yanks we wouldn't have tarrifs on our softwood lumber even after every fucking ruling decided we were right and they were wrong.

without them we wouldn't have the stupidity of terrorism because Canada is not involved in running other country's economy and government for the betterment of american millionaires.

without them we wouldn't have line-ups for flu shots.

without them we wouldn't have enron etc ...

mind you, without them we wouldn't have something to laugh at everyday ...

btw: since the War of Independence, you americans haven't won one war ...

you got your asses kicked by a bunch of Canucks in 1812 ...

barely made a dent in the first and second world wars ... Canada was there for both from day 1!!!

got your asses kicked in Korea, Vietnam, etc etc etc ...

so spare me the US flag waving.
