A glaring reminder as to why i don't ever want to get married and have kids. You think the guy would be smart enough to get a prenup :doh:. The ex-wife pulls in $50K/month, very good return on investment for 10 years work. $25K/month for the kids; what are they wearing Armani??? are they eating caviar and lobster???
Oh well, maybe he can borrow some cash off Pauly Shore or do another Mummy sequel.

Her job was to properly take care of her husband...namely fuck him and take care
of the kids but I imagine she had a nanny for the hard stuff so basically all she had

This is a wake up call to those pooners who are married and are worth some serious

Why do you think many guys stay in marriages that they're not too crazy about, and find other outlets to improve their feelings of happiness? Because they'd rather not share the spoils.

The tough questions are always around the issues of: did she support the rise of his career while they were together? Did she do her 50% share of the work involved to create a successful venture which, in this case, happened to be an acting and movie career, while bringing children into the world? Is $50,000 per month simply keeping her and the children in the lifestyle to which they had become accustomed? Can he renegotiate the terms of the settlement as the children get older? At what point is she supposed to begin fending for herself, as alimony usually has a time limit, to coincide with the children becoming more independent and allowing her to work.

I know that sharing with someone you no longer love sucks but, if she helped him earn it, she has a right to share in it, regardless of whether or not they are still together. Otherwise, she's a money-hungry bitch with a really good lawyer! :nod:

In this world of equality that we live in where men and women are supposed to be equal the marriage laws are vastly outdated to the point they still see and treat women as helpless little creatures that need to be fully looked after even after a marriage ends because obviously as women they are completely incapable of taking care of themselves so they need large monthly payments from the man just to survive.

The only difference between a wife and a whore is when the whore leaves you still own your house !! Wives are actually worse because they still get your money after for not having sex with you anymore. HAHAHAHA

Seems strange that they want to be equal in everything except for when it comes to divorce they want the law to treat them as useless unemployable things incapable of taking any care of themselves without help from a man.

I think it's fair to say that the divorce law has been on the side of the provider for many years. The pendulum, I will agree, has swung too far the other way but at least it applies equally to men and women. So if you are a trophy husband, good for you. In case you haven't noticed, a growing percentage of women are the bread winner in their households.

When I lived back in Ontario, way back when, there used to be a film host by the name of Bill Kennedy, who was at one time, a day player in hollywood. He used to answer viewer mail and talk about hollywood and the system, etc. One of Bill's favorite sayings, in relation to, if you ever make it in hollywood, was, "Save your money." Because, when it goes dry, it goes dry.

She hired an attorney, he hired an attorney, and a divorce settlement was reached based on his income and assets at the time. Now, things aren't as rosy for Brendan, who apparently suffers from male pattern baldness along with a burgeoning waistline. So, he wants his situation re-assessed, based on his ability to pay. If I was judge, he'd better have an itemized list of all his expenses, and be able to justify each and every one as necessary before I'd shave one single penny that went to his former wife and children. The burden of proof is on him, not her. She's not on trial. He's the weasel looking to shirk his financial responsibilities. This divorce settlement is a done deal. Next time, get a better lawyer, get married in a different locale, whatever. No sympathy for this guy whatsoever.

Something earned and deserved after spending 20 years of working 12+ hours a day outside in the mud and -40 winters in the oilpatch. Then he got divorced and now he lives back with his parents because he cannot afford an apartment, He lives paycheck to paycheck, Has no money for vacations or toys to play as with he pays thousands of dollars a month for a very nice house she lives in with her boyfriend and pays thousands of dollars a month to kids she wont let him see. The guy is destroyed, financially, mentally and physically he aged 15 years in the last year since she took him to the cleaners. At 40 years old he has less then what he had at 18 and will not ever be able to retire and the last 20 years of his life were completely pointless in getting ahead in life and securing his future.

My friend told me there's this old timer he works with. The old guy has been divorced twice and pays alimony to his 2 ex-wives; he lives in a cramped, broken down trailer. He's always telling the younger guys at work not to get married, its just not worth it. Probably the best damn advice i have ever heard.

Having been married a few times, I am forever thankful that all did not end miserably... just broken hearts. That and good lawyer(s) to draw up the "Co-habitation Agreements". Pre-nup sounds sharp. LOL. Essentially, what is hers is hers and what is mine is mine. What I spend on her while Co-habitating is hers. I worked really hard for my net worth and it's a wise investment to spend a few grand to protect the itemized assets.
