Book Research Request

SP's & Hobbyists,

I am posting this message to ask for your help. I am in the process of conducting research for a book that I am writing on "The Hobby" in the United States, Canada, and the UK. I would like your help in gaining a greater understanding of the human experience in this unique community.

I completely understand and appreciate the desire and need for discretion and anonymity in your community. Any information you reveal to me will be treated as anonymous. If I include any of your personal stories or histories in my book, I will change names, dates, and places to maintain your anonymity. You may reveal as much or as little about yourself as you wish.

If you choose to assist me, please either PM me or send an e-mail to the address I have established for the research (preferred). I will begin by sending you a rather basic questionnaire. From there, additional questions will probably arise.

It is my hope that an objective dialogue evolves so that I can understand and ultimately represent the SP and Hobbyist community accurately. I come into this research with no preconceived notions and have no agenda to paint your community in either a negative or positive light. I am an objective journalist and seek only the truth.

So, what portion of the proceeds from the book sales goes back to the contributors? Or even better, goes to PACE? I see from a post by Tiffany you are rather aggressive in your pursuit of a story. I strongly suspect you are the same deceptive lowlife who infiltrated the lifestyle community a few years ago. If thats the case, peddle your wife's ass for a few weeks and write about that. Just a thought.

I agree with Dakato here. I am suspicious of this request. If you had an academic background, which seems doubtful, you would realize there is a protocol for beginning and conducting such research and this isn't it.

I do not agree with DDawGG however. Does a researcher need to drink to excess to do research on alcoholism? Or kill someone to do research on murder? Or rape to do research on rapists? Or overeat to do research on overeating? These are just examples, of course. I am not comparing either hobbyists or SPs to drunks, killers, rapists, or overeaters. I am a semi-retired hobbyist myself, so such an implication would be self-incriminating.

I am simply suggesting that one does not have to be personally involved in the topic of one's research in order for that research to be legitimate and important.

I have my doubts that either this "research" or the "researcher" is legit. Caveat emptor - Let the Buyer Beware!

Here's what I'm suggesting. You help me by shelling out $300 so I can see the SP of my choice and I'll help you by sharing my "human experience" of getting laid. As an added bonus I won't ask for any residuals form the sale of your book.

Here's my opinion, if this person is truly honest about writing a book or doing research, he should reveal who he is. What credentials does he have in writing a book or in journalism? Heck, i could just pop up onto this board and say i want to write a book, whether or not i'm qualified is another matter.
