24.Oct 2018 7-8pm Vancouver Public Library reading by the author, and interview & questions
There is certainly not a whole lot of text in the book, but what is there is well packed with escort stories that run the gamut from great experiences, rape, shitty dates, well-paid dates, family angst and forever memories. It is a pretty good read for anyone on Perb-like forums. There are several pages that have extracts from client’s Perb-type reviews on Andrea, then she hilariously reviews the dates.
Too bad we don't have more reviews of the dates from the girls on Perb here to liven things up a bit.
Wednesday Oct 24th the author Andrea and photographer Nicole (never an escort, but she is hot too) were at the library. Andrea is very charismatic and looks like her photos. She did a reading of several of her short stories, and she was pretty darn funny. I recognized a few Leolist advertisers in attendance, of perhaps 40-50 people at the top floor of the Vancouver public library.
Perb readers will recognize themselves in some of the stories, I know I certainly recognized myself in several. This book does not contain anything from the perspective of guys who go see girls in good faith and get totally screwed over. Also, Andrea is not a crack whore or did any street walking, so this is from a girl from a good family background, religious mom (who was initially shocked at her daughter 'coming out'), a very understanding supportive dad and brother.
Andrea is great at removing the stigma surrounding girls having sex for cash, and certainly you do empathize with her and see the whole of her, not condemn her for her choice of work.
One storey she fondly relays of an 82-year old client who was her favourite because of his ageless personality. She had (or perhaps still has) a supporting boyfriend during these few years she worked as an escort. She estimates that over two years she had 500 appointments.
The agencies she worked for took $100 for each $260 or so she was billed out at. Highway robbery as far as I'm concerned... but presumably the arrangement provided safety for her, as a driver was provided for the security.
Of review boards she writes:
Truthless Ground: A Primer on Escort Review Board Culture
"An escort review board is a place where johns share their stories or "reviews" of a sex worker's services. Some reviews read like erotica, some like the specs of a used car, and others like good ol' fashioned snuff."
"The Erotic Review and other sex work review message boards are where sexual objectification takes its most literal form. Sex workers (or "service providers," SPs* for short) of all stripes -- escorts, rub-and-tuggers, strippers, phone sex operators, street workers, your name it -- are critiqued on anything from their appearance, attitude, and permissiveness, to their intelligence, "conversationalist" skills, and laundry list of available services. While reviews are undoubtedly helpful for the potential consumer -- especially when one's hobby costs anywhere from a hundred to a thousand an hour -- many sex workers are uncomfortable with having their body, mind, and soul criticized by some stranger with a big mouth, a few hundred dollars, and an internet connection.
* Please see pg. 147 for TERB acronyms (DATY, (forgets to mention DATO, LOL) MSOG, BLS etc.)

So, pinging off that, she hilariously reads a reviewer's glowing review of her (to which she responds with the reality of the date from her perspective), plus another story that includes a comment about her short legs (to which she takes exception).
Throughout, she preserves the anonymity of her dates.
I wonder if some of these dudes get complimentary copies of her book...?
Her writing skills are very good. She has had some formal schooling in this regard. Most of the stories span just a few pages, so it is very easy to consume and ready quickly inside a week of very casual reading (I read most of it while on transit to and from work).
Andrea and Nicole are on serveral lightly-hit youtube videos, so you can see exactly what her personality is like. The two of them are great.
The book started as a kickstarter project, where they asked for $15k to raise in a month, and got $22,000. A couple months later in December, the book was released. Over the coming year, it appears they sold the 1,000 they printed.
