Boat launch frustration, turned into fun

I spend a LOT of time at boat launches.
I cannot understand the people who cannot back up a trailer, or that seem to make a launch or retrieve difficult.
I needed to launch a boat the other day and this idiot had his truck and trailer parked right in the centre of the ramp, making a double wide ramp, effectively a single.
And the 2 morons could not launch the damn boat.
I was going to go over and do it for them i was so pissed.
Anyways I calmed down and just decided to watch.
As I remebered the joy of just watching dipshit after dipshit launch for many many years now.
The process is simple, but some people have a talent for making it seem difficult.
Has anyone just gone to a busy launch and "Observed" for a while?
Actually its great fun.
I was delayed about half an hour putting the boat in, but saw all sorts of fun.
He fell in and was soaked.
She tried to push a 5,000 pound or ore boat off the trailer when it was not nearly deep enough in the water.
They likely have no water pump left as they started and ran the boat for about 5 minutes with the leg out of the water.
Most people install the drin plug pre-launch....these clowns realize as they take on water something is wrong and then he swims behind the boat trying to install it while afloat.

And much more.....ahhhh the joys of watching stupid people on a launch ramp.

Anyways some are also so fast and slick they just blow you away with their talent.
Anyhow if bored some saturday drive to your nearest launch, drink a few brewski's and have a laugh.

Launching a boat, it's a matter of pride. And typically there are more than a few onlookers waiting for disaster to strike. So I'll admit, there's a bit of ego on the line when I launch/load

But I had to laugh when once I was loading by myself...
backed the SUV & trailer down the ramp....
ran around and powered the boat up onto the trailer....
jumped off the boat and secured the boat to the winch....
winched it up and secured the boat with the safety hook....
jump into the SUV to drive up the ramp.....

Only one problem... I JUMPED INTO THE BACK SEAT!

The best all time screw up i have seen was a guy that was told to unplug the power to his trailer befre backing it in as it would harm it otherwise.....uhhhhhhh okay.
Problem is the boat trailer combo was 18,500 pounds, and he had electric trailer brakes.
end result was on the steep ramp the pickup could not stop and the the boat floated the trailer just fine when it got deep enough.
The truck got a nice interior wash....LOL

It was a Chevy diesel pickup, about a year old.
Second day he had his new boat out.
First day was a shallow angle ramp he said and it stopped.
A wet and slimy ramp.....big boat, no trailer brakes... equals disaster.

Best launch i ever witnessed.

Two guys maybe around 40-50 years old.
They park both jump out and undo the starpas on their respective sides of the boat and also the bow strap.
I was like yikes i leave the bow line secured.
Driver jumps back into his ford pickup, passenger hops into boat.
driver backs down ramp semi fast, and slams on the brakes, boat slides off perfectly, and as it hits the water i hear it start and the leg goes down and into reverse.
truck lunges back up the ramp and he backs into a parking spot perfectly runs down the ramp and as th boat approaches he pushes off nd hops into the bow seating area, and they are off.
Not one wasted movement or second.
It was the perfect launch and so fast it was almost hard to follow it all.
The pit crews for an Indy race car team could take lessons from those guys.

I don't know if this counts,
but watched this couple do a good launch
(don't know enough to say otherwise)
the wife in the boat, the boat in the water,
the truck and trailer both parked in record time,
the boat drifts off with wifey screaming at husband
as he had the keys for the boat.

Guy disconnects winch cable and safety chain. Backs down the ramp a few feet and the boat slides off the trailer landng on the concrete ramp. I could see the lower unit pop up and down as it slid down the ramp. Driver keeps backing down now pushing the boat into the water with the trailer as his son is yelling at him. Driver parks his truck, fires the engine up and heads for open water lol. He never did inspect the lower unit or boat for damage. I was leaving and never did see how far he made it.

My SO and I are like a military drill team. Each has a role and knows what he / she is sposed to do.
That being said twice I have launched without the plug in
and it gets interesting. The last time I just said to keep driving the boat till I got parked and circle back for me. I jumped in and screwed the plug in.

If you want a gong show, check out the marina at Rocky or is it Reed Point in Pt. Moody. At low tide it is steep and slimy and these two wheel drive trucks just fry their tires lifting out of there.

Seen many the show at that place for sure, your usuall mix of, oh
forgot to put the boat plug in, which btw I put in from the inside of the
boat, never understood why people put it on the outside, cuz if something
like a rope gets caught in it while you're out on the water, Hope you
enjoy swimming !
At the wing damn last year a guy goes to load his boat on the trailer,
drives it up on the trailer giving it a bit to much force and snaps the
parking lock mechanism in the tranny, well holy shit the whole unit rolled
back into the fraser and went completely submerged in fifteen feet of water
as the guy was still floating in his boat and watched the whole thing
dissapear. Scuba divers went in to attach a buoy to it and it sat there
for nearly a week before they could get it out.

I always throw a block behind my wheel on those steeper ramps cuz
Murphy has a way of popping up now and then.
Oh yah and thank christ for 4 wheel, no trouble at the slimy boat ramps
during a low tide. What's even more funny is when the wind picks up there
at Rocky is watching these rookie guys trying to trailer their boat.

I seem to be missing one of those QM'r.

The Asian spinner girlfriend that is.

I cannot even change the oil on the 2 engines in my Sea Ray.
I canot crawl in there to get the oil filters off or on.
So I have to bribe a smaller person to do it for me.
My buddies daughter did it last time....LOL

On my Campion there is enough room to reach in and do it.
But be damned if i can reach the fuel filter in there. So she does the annual fuel filter change on it for me.

Yah on some of those inboard jobs it's more cramped in there than
than the new import cars. A buddy of mine put on an accessorie
kit with braided hose and mounted the oil filter to the inside of the engine
bay, also the fuel filter and lines as well. Easy to get at now except
for the drain plug on the pan.

The only problem with this scenario is you won't need your bud's daughter
leaning over anything for you to stare at her ass, well except for the
the drain plug !!
