Blu Ray Reader BD Rom and Ripping Software Recommendations

All you computer experts out there I need your help again

I need recommendations on a Blu Ray Reader as well as some ripping software.

I am thinking about getting a Blu Ray Reader BD Rom for my desktop - just a reader as I am not interested in a Blu Ray Writer. Looks like you can get one from NCIX between $72 and $149.

I am leaning towards the [Liteon BLU-RAY Combo Drive 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Retail Black] one. What do you guys think? Is that a good choice or do you have any other better recommendations? The price at $135 is also right for me.

One more thing! What software would you use to rip Blu Ray DVDs? Currently I use DVD Shrink to rip normal DVDs. Is there a software out there that you can read a Blu Ray disk but rip it into just a normal DVD format?

here's what you do. buy a PS3. download blu ray rips from the net. write your downloaded files to a usb memory stick (you can get an 8 gig for 30 bucks) and play them through the ps3.

Software comes with the hardware. Just make sure it's the latest version.

I'm a Samsung fan. At least the DVD writers seem decent (and cheap at < $30).

Whichever you elect to go with, don't forget to price-match using PriceCanada.com. I think I found the drive you mentioned for $118. NCIX will match any current CDN price.

Can't help much with the software choices. But videohelp.com has all sorts of hints & tutorials.

8 gigs? Is that enough for a blu ray rip?
