This is scheduled for tonight at the No5 Orange. I have no idea what it's gonna be but my curiosity is piqued and I think I'll be heading down there to check this out. (I don't really consider myself a goth geek but I am a fan of the horror genre, so it sounds like it could be interesting). I guess they've done this once before about a month ago but I didn't hear about it then nor have I heard anything about that event. Although, I guess I haven't been to the 5 yet this year...

I got to the 5 at about 9:20, as Skyla Raine was just finishing her set. Given the nature of what I was expecting from the show, I was trying to decide where I wanted to sit. I asked one of the bouncers if he had seen the previous show and if there was going to be much fake blood used. His response seemed to suggest that there might be a good chance of it for those in the front row. One of the booths in which I tend to like to sit was open but I didn't really feel like being splattered, so I opted for one of the tables on the raised area just to the right of the stage by the entrance. You still have a decent view of the stage from there and I actually wondered if any splatter might make it that far.

All of the promotional material for the show advertised a scheduled start time of 9:30. By the time I was actually seated and settled in with a drink, it had to be close to that time already. I believe the DJ announced that the show would be starting in "two minutes". Not even close. Before the show, one of the week's feature dancers, Rocket, did a full set. It was a decent set but nothing special. After a short break, another of this week's scheduled dancers came up. Although, in this case, it was Sugar, so no complaints here :D She put on a very good, high energy set, which I really enjoyed. (I admit that at times I've seen her seem less enthused but when she's on her game the way she was last night, she remains one of my favourites).

After Sugar's set, they finally handed over the reigns to the Bloody Betty crew. The "Stripkeeper" came out. At one point, he made a comment that he was a big Hulk Hogan fan but he reminded me more of a poor man's Randy "Macho Man" Savage. I so hoped that just once he'd break out an "Ohhhhh yeah!" :D In any case, he was appropriately enthusiastic and energetic while just walking that line where he wasn't too annoying. A couple of scantily clad "slave girls" were introduced as they prepped the stage and wiped down the pole.

The first of the burlesque performers to take the stage was introduced as "Sherry Hymen" if I understood correctly. Even with the racoon eye make-up, it was apparent that she has quite a lovely face. She did some rather impressive dance athletics and burlesque style strip tease on a chair to what I think was a Michael Buble track. Red, heart shaped pasties and the panties stayed on but a very entertaining performance overall.

The next dancer they announced was Salem Lords... only there was some kind of delay and mix up and she didn't come up. So, I guess they had to improvise and prepare the stage for Bloody Betty's first performance instead. Damn, that woman can move! Very high energy, high tempo almost frenetic dancing style. I had originally written a very detailed description of her performance but I've edited that out so as not to potentially spoil any surprises for those that may choose to catch her act in the future. There was some simulated violence and moderate gore during the performance. Overall, I found her performance highly entertaining.

Salem Lords did finally hit the stage after Bloody Betty. She looked very familiar to me. I think she may have been one of the No5 VIP dancers in the past. I vaguely recall myself and a guy who I used to meet up there from time to time referring to her as "living dead girl" back then. So, I got a kick out of the fact that the second song of her first set happened to be "Living Dead Girl". Anyway, she also danced with great energy and was great fun to watch.

At this point, the Bloody Betty crew took a break and two of the week's scheduled dancers took the stage for back to back full sets. No break between Ariel and then Jade. On any other occasion, I would quite enjoy either of these lovely ladies' stage sets. But the shift in tone from the great showmanship of the very burlesque style of the Bloody Betty group back to the more typical exotic entertainment didn't quite work, in my opinion.

After the break, a contest where three audience members were called up to the stage to participate. Again, don't think I should reveal the specifics of the contest in case it's something they do again and I wouldn't want to give away the surprise. Not as CRAZY as suggested by the promo material and the prizes handed out weren't nearly as INSANE as promised either. But the contestants and the onlooking crowd seemed to enjoy it.

Each lady came up again after that. Sherry Hymen with another very entertaining, high tempo set done to Joan Jett's "Do you wanna touch me?" Then Salem Lords came up with a demon who was suspiciously dressed like Randy "Macho Man" Stripkeeper. And finally one more wild set from headliner Bloody Betty which culminated in some more simulated violence and gore.

Overall, I found the evening quite entertaining despite the fact that I had higher expectations about how much simulated gore would be involved. I was in no danger of getting any splatter on me even if I had been sitting closer to the stage. As for this:

some of these performances will leave you unable to sleep and begging for more gore.
I slept just fine and yes... I definitely expected more gore :D But I would certainly venture out to see another Bloody Betty show.

Bloody Betty's LOVE HURTS

I would certainly venture out to see another Bloody Betty show.
In fact, if it weren't for the fact that I already have plans to watch the Robocop remake this Saturday night, I may very well have gone to the Cobalt for this (The Cobalt! Now that's scary!!! :D )

We have all felt the cold icy hand of betrayal thrust through our chest by the very person we held most dear. Felt the knife slowly cut into our chest and stared into their eyes as they tore the life-giving organ from our body and watched us slowly bleed into the afterlife. Well metaphorically anyway. Unless of course you have dated one of The Deadly Sins then this is a more literal feeling.

LOVE YOU DEAD ENTERTAINMENT & GRAFFENSTYNE DESIGN want you to join us in celebrating the less celebrated side of love; Deception, Lies, Broken Promises and the Wrath of A Woman Scorned. A beautiful, half-naked woman. Well at least she will be if you are at The Cobalt Saturday February 15th. If your anywhere else she will most likely be clothed and yelling about the youth you have so ungraciously stolen from her. So if you prefer your feminine fury served with a side of stiletto heels and the switchblade to match join BLOODY BETTY & THE DEADLY SINS @ THE COBALT for our post Valentine's gift to you.

As usual this will entail the creative use of entrails as fashion accessories and glamorization of the inappropriate. So why not dress your best and come party like it's the last day of your life cuz with the lineup of vengeful babes we have it might be just that.

But the write up on the page itself and the poster artwork only references the Tuesday night. So, plan accordingly if this is something you're interested in seeing :)

This was a very entertaining evening last night. I'm not exactly sure what time I got there but it was probably around 9:20 or so and it was already quite busy for a Tuesday night. When I walked in, Milaysha was on stage just finishing up the last song of her set and the energy of the crowd in the room was already quite good. I was lucky enough to find a seat at one of the few remaining open tables.

So, in addition to the Bloody Betty crew, it was a really good line up of stage dancers last night, most of whom were actually new to me. I've seen Milaysha a few times now and quite like her. I find her particularly attractive. She's all natural and some might call her thick but I'll call her curvier in a visually very pleasing way to me. And most of the times I've seen her, she's danced with good enthusiasm. At one point, the DJ made a particular note of her "twerking" abilities. She is indeed skilled at that :D

Up next was a dancer whom I can't recall having seen before: Naughtie Nikki. She's a beautiful blonde. I mean, facially she is stunningly lovely. But she keeps this rather stern look on her face while she dances. She only broke that character once during her set when the DJ cracked some joke that amused her between tracks of her set. Anyway, I really enjoyed her up tempo style and her music choices (very guitar centric, heavy rock which was in keeping with much of the tone for the night).

After her, another dancer whom I don't believe I've seen dance previously. A lovely, slim Asian girl named Silk. And again, I have to say that I really enjoyed her set.

After a short break, with the DJ playing Alice Cooper's Welcome to My Nightmare, the time finally came for the Bloody Betty crew to take over. The Stripkeeper came out in a Beetlejuice inspired outfit and make-up and the "slave girls" (or Wack-o-lanterns, as the Stripkeeper referred to them due to their ghostly jack-o-lantern style make-up) began their stage prep.

All of the evening's burlesque sets were greatly entertaining to watch. But I have to make particular note of Nicky Ninedoors' first set. She came out dressed up as a sexy teacher and did a full three or four song set. Most of these burlesque sets are usually one song or two at the most. But this was a full on burlesque performance/exotic dance routine. It was high tempo and enthusiastic from start to finish with great music choices. It was just a spectacular set that set the bar so high that no other performance quite managed to match it. Only one came close, in my opinion and I'll get to that in a moment...

So, after Bloody Betty's performance, it was time for the half time sets from a couple of this week's stage line-up performers. This time Tasha Valentine took the stage first. I have seen her on at least one or two occasions and I find her damn near stunningly beautiful and I think she's a very good dancer, so I thoroughly enjoyed her set. But after her, it was time for Milaysha to take the stage again. I don't know if she was feeling particularly inspired by the burlesque performances or if she was determined not to be outdone by them but she truly upped her game for that set. From the costume that she chose to performing with a greater sense of theatricality, and even greater enthusiasm than she normally shows. She had this sort of leash around her neck with which she was sort of pulling herself about and when she removed it, she used it to ferociously whip the stage and the pole. My only nit pick is that it felt like she was almost trying a little too hard but I'm certainly not going to complain about that. It was a really great set and the only performance of the night that came close to matching that Nicky Ninedoors school teacher set.

After the second round of burlesque performances, another dancer whom is new to me took to the stage. This one is named Caramelle (probably chosen as a reference to her ethnicity/skin tone). She's a lovely woman with a slim, all natural figure and it was another very enjoyable set. By the time she was done, it was just past midnight and time for me to head home.

One last note about the show: There were no "crazy contests" nor "insane prizes" this time, despite what was written in the promo material :(
