Blocked numbers

I have learned the hard way, not to accept blocked numbers or payphone numbers, they 90% of the time are playing games and wasting our prescious time.

Just this last 2 weeks, I had a private number call, and I was half asleep when i answered, so i started to answer some questions he had, only to find out he was jerking off, and then hung up.

He then proceeded to call me 3 or 4 other times in the next week or so, and I am very good with voices, and i recognized his voice and as soon as he said he wanted some info, i said i would be happy to provide that as long as you phone me from an unblocked #. Of course he didnt phone back that day, but phoned back several times trying to disguise his voice, until i got sick of it and said "i know your voice, and if you continue to call me i will press *57, which goes straight to the police for tracing and he hung up, no prob since.
This is the reason we do not accept blocked numbers, as well if we get a bad date, we can trace them.

I never call back numbers that call me and I delete them as soon as I have seen them. If they come to see me again, i dont mind if they block their number as i already know them.

Probably won't get too far if you are always blocking your number. I could be wrong......but it seems to me it would be rather difficult to do some fair business dealings this way. Makes for alot of paranoia on both sides of the fence.

It's kind of nice to be straight up, as soon as possible. No pun!!!!!!!

I wonder how many clients who book with a private number get stood up?? I mean if the Sp gets a booking with a regular or someone whose number does show up, is it likely she would consider waiting for a blocked number/potential no-show over a sure thing?

Just food for thought, I don't have this problem since I don't book em in the first place.

I can only second tj blocking the number protect you. the sp is entiltled to respect so is the client if your policy is not to take client who
phone from block numbers just state it up front. in your adds

it will protect you some what but cost you clients. You should weigh the cost and benifits

Well when I first started to say on my answering machine will not respond to private# or unblock calls it was all a "HAHA" but truth of the matter if statistics were actually done.I bet the # of blocked calls versus the exposed #.The exposed # number would be higher show-up rate.As well a true professional SP will not attempt to call a # without permission.I do get a lot of # on my machine but I still have a problem calling back and that IMHO!

Well said Chantal and Paris ... being straight up is a lot easier and you never forget your story if you tell the truth.

I rarely answer unknown or blocked numbers myself - why bother, if it's important - leave a message.

I think we all answer blocked numbers, but we only book you if you have seen us before. Otherwise, if you decide you want to book after hearing about us and our services, you have to call back from an unblocked number, to confirm your appointment. Giving us a number to call you back immediately to confirm also works if you truly can't unblock your number. Make a decision first by all means, we don't ask to be privy to your information when you are just looking for our bio's!

The consensus so far, is that 8/10 private numbers ARE prank callers so waiting for no-shows and turning down serious clients actually loses us big money!! Real clients who after careful thought and evaluating our phone manner decide to let us privy to their phone number in order to come to our place of business. Not that outrageous a request surely...?

Hey Zoe,

You must have gotten the same guy that was calling me, lol. I am sure he makes the rounds of the girls and sees who he can get a hold of.

Anway, I do not set up appts through email. They must call me before the appt to confirm. It only makes sense. What if something comes up on my end or on his. I actually refused a client (nicely) on Friday because he told me he would not call from an unblocked number. So, I said I understand, but I am sorry I cant help you then. My safety is too important.

I also find that most men (that call me anyway) do not block their numbers believe it or not. I find i get about 10 percent blocking their numbers.

Just my opinion.

I am soo sick of blocked calls. I always regret answering them nomatter what. Ussually they are soo nice until you say something they don't like then they just hang up. It really pisses me off and I recognise voices too that do it frequently!! One particular voice in mind who sounds like Wilson on Home Improvement. I would like to meet that fellow!!

Suggestion Chantal. Perhaps you could use his A** as an asstray I mean ashtray. Give a whole new meaning to butting out. On the other hand, the smokes would not be taxable because he'd be the end user.

Or could use it as a candle holder but could interfere with an exquisite romantic dinner, I'm guessing! Make sure it's fastened with crazy glue in case the guy ate beans or cabbage or something. Don't want a flambe like that do we? Unless of course it's an old flame. Happy birthday Mr Methane

In S'toon, it is not often that we get unblocked #'s to begin with. Most of the clients who call us are too scared/nervous or even to experienced to give ligit numbers. So, if we booked only the numbers on display, well I'd be starving in a week! We do have ways of weeding out the jerks from the gold. But we do get a few ns a month. It's a sad fact, so to all the men who call to confirm/cancel appointments, you will always recieve "exceptional" treatment in return!
