I will be released from my Rogers account in October and Wind Mobile will get my business...no contract....no BS system access fee...no BS911 access fee.....decent monthly plans for both voice and data...it is a no brainer...Wind Mobile is the = to Clearnet that started up 12 years ago and was quickly swallowed up by Telus....rather than compete Telus bought them out and then used their advertising ideas....to be blunt.....cell phone users in Canada get bent over and fucked in the ass with regards to everything....the contracts are long....the rates for airtime and email/data are high.....in the USA you get 5 X the airtime and if you dont use it it rolls over on a month to month basis.....we dont get that from ANY carrier in Canada.....all because as customers we take it in the ass and dont speak up.....I for 1 will be speaking with my wallet and will not take the "free phone" upgrade from Rogers that I have constantlly been offered for the last 4 months.....I will wait till my contract expires and switch to Wind Mobile....yeah I may have to buy the phone but at least I will be dealing with a company that WANTS to take care of it's customers and not rape them for cash.If you are referring to the blackberry 6.0 operating system, its first rollout will be with the BB 9800 torch. If you are wondering if you can use a leaked BB 6.0 on an older model like the 9700 Bold II, I'd wait till the official release for your particular model. Leaked OS's tend to be unstable
lol - I don't think there's a best cell company to go with but Wind mobile is being very accommodating to new customers as they try to woo disgruntled rogers/fido & telus customers. Bell/Virgin has the fastest network as I understand
Wind Mobile has good prices but their service coverage is limited. They're building from the ground up, which in Canada is pretty tough. I've used Telus, Bell and Rogers. I hate Rogers. Telus are OK with good rural service but they're hard assed to deal with. I had trouble with a blackberry they sold me and it was pulling teeth to get them to exchange it. I been with Bell a few months and so far I'm impressed. A few dropped calls but 3G works great. Only thing I don't like with Bell is that if you set a "cap" on your usage (mine is 400 bucks) and you go over the cap your phone will go off. No biggie as you can pay online but you can wait up to 12 hours to have it turned on. When you call them, they make a fuss about it and give you a hard time. I feel like saying I put the fucking cap on there so I DONT get 8000 bills from data usage.
bell uses telus' towers in the west so the coverage is the sameYou're in the West, Telus is your best bet for service and coverage...
Correct, they do and shared the cost of developing the new network.I rarely hit a bill that high unless I miss a months payment but $250 wasn't hard to hit at one time. I had no long distance and never got around to upgrading the package.
Mr Brown ---> Telus and Bell share facilities/towers as far as I understand.
I advise you to check out Wind Mobile.....I have been a customer since late September and I am loving it....no contract and very reasonable rates...the Shout Canada plan is $45 a month and includes unlimited Canada wide calling/voicemail/call display/call forwarding...no charges for long distance....no system access fee....basically no nickle & diming you to death each month...I have not had a call dropped yet but I have lost contact with the 3G network...the places I lost contact were Symons Valley and west of 85th St sw in Aspen Stone.....and I lost contact with the latter with Rogers.I have a question. If I buy the cell right out what kind of deal would i get, Such as a waved start up fees? The new BB 9800 is about $550.00. and get the other half a iPhone at the same time. I was looking on http://http://www.comparecellular.ca/ the start fees are so high! I have not had a contract with a cell phone company for over 15 years now (old guy)
Than you for your help!

Wind Mobile is a new start up company that is charging out of the gate fast....as a company they offer a wicked alternative to the BIG 3 and will only improve...thus far the company has raised 900 million in start up capital and they are not going to go away or get bought out by the BIG 3...yes you wont get service in the stix but who cares....they created a good start up coverage zone with the major population centres of Vancouver/Calgary/Edmonton/Toronto/Montrea/Ottawa and they will grow those networks over time.
Thus far Rogers has responded to the competition from Wind with Chatr.....though they dont mention that Chatr is owned by Rogers or that is on a 2G network...same thing goes for both Telus and Bell.
Just my .02

Take your time and go month to month with Rogers...you take the new phone and you get roped in for 3 more years...break that contract and you get GREEKed.....like it or not you will get fucked over if you break the contract unless you can unload your phone and the contract onto someone else.I live in Coquitlam out of the Wind Zone maybe later this year. I will take my time with this....
How the hell do you get a bill that large, change your plan, I have unlimited data, messaging, and long distance on my BB, use it all the timeas the only phone I have, and pay about $65 per month.........with WIND.How the hell do you get a bill that large, change your plan, i have unlimited data, messaging, and long distance on my bb, use it all the time as the only phone i have, and pay about $250.00 per month.
