Just fuck off.

Another imported American excuse to buy more shit.

I'll spend Black Friday not spending anything.

People use Black Friday as a way to save money.... Best deals for major buys for house etc. Start of xmas shopping season etc... Yes 80% is hype, but there are some good deals out there.

Man needs shelter, and food and water to survive. Where/When did man get this material worship.....

There is a huge protest happening this Friday starting at Art Philips Park 625 Burrard and heading to the Art Gallery. Protest will be happening on all streets and in the malls.

If it’s stuff I use throughout the year, I’ll take advantage of the sales.

Men’s toiletries 50% off

400 and 512 GB Memory Cards $150 off! Prices are never this good throughout the year.

These are all online purchases. I stay away from Malls with crazy drivers tearing around looking for very few parking spots.

History of Black Friday

The true story behind Black Friday, however, is not as sunny as retailers might have you believe. Back in the 1950s, police in the city of Philadelphia used the term to describe the chaos that ensued on the day after Thanksgiving, when hordes of suburban shoppers and tourists flooded into the city in advance of the big Army-Navy football game held on that Saturday every year. Not only would Philly cops not be able to take the day off, but they would have to work extra-long shifts dealing with the additional crowds and traffic. Shoplifters would also take advantage of the bedlam in stores to make off with merchandise, adding to the law enforcement headache.

By 1961, “Black Friday” had caught on in Philadelphia, to the extent that the city’s merchants and boosters tried unsuccessfully to change it to “Big Friday”........ clink on line for more.....

I love shopping so much....... that I enjoy buying online... call it Black Friday, Small Business Saturday , or Cyber Monday, It's the same I have 2-3 purchases I do every year at the same time, and I only do it because of the 50-80% discounts on the items I would buy anyway during the year... , as a result I just make a larger purchase than I would at regular price.

The way I see shopping as I get older is "don't need that"...

I think Canada's version of Black Friday was Boxing day until a few years ago, now it still happens, but most of the hype is on Black Friday......

Totally agree Black Friday is one just another excuse to buy the shit no one ever wanted to invest in the first place but end up buying because its real cheap. Having said that the best thing i find is how to get my disney plus account working while on travel here is how the D+ discount works and thank me later

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
Too me Black Friday is one of the symbols of every thing wrong with society these days including mass commercialism and greed.
There is something massively wrong when you get people fighting over a low priced X-Box one day after a "Day of Thanks" (In the US).
That's my view. I know some may not see it that way though.

And not to get into a political discussion I always roll my eyes this time of a year as 2 friends of mine who are both card carrying members of the NDP and provincial government employees, go to Fargo to do their Xmas shopping on Black Friday. Whenever I remind them that they should be shopping in Canada to support Canadian retailers and workers as well as paying PST and GST to support all the social programs they want, they brush it off. LOL!

Cheers
J

While you're at it why don't you tax all the imported motor vehicles, building products that includes everything down to the rebar in the cement and the steel toed boots of the workers and imported tools to build condos and furnishings that were sold to wealthly immigrant oligarchs who got rich off the backs of marginized and often slave labour selling cheap products to British Columbians that got priced out of their homes and sent to either sleep in the street or waste hours of their lives each weekday commuting 30 to 50 kilometres to and from a prosaic non-producing job that doesn't require any more skill than a high school drop-out.
