I can't find anything about it on the board but can we talk about the giant Billboard Serena has on Portage ave??!!!! :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:
I'm shocked by it. The only other place I've seen billboards for sexwork is Vegas, and that's mostly stripclubs and a few legal brothels. I have to admit I'm kind of uncomfortable with the publicity. To be honest, I'd love to have just 2 -3 under the radar providers to see regularly and call it good but admittedly, I'm paranoid about having attention drawn to me in regards to the hobby. I know there's been higher profile providers in the past. I remember the hulubulu around CindyFF with the cop videos on her page. I just want to avoid attention altogether.

This should go to the lounge for more commentary.

I have to believe that is in Winnipeg.... When leolist is full of fake ads where else do you advertise?

I'm inclined to believe so too, since it says Winnipeg on the billboard itself, in the pic above. :D

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
I know nothing about buying billboard ads but could this be someone fucking with her?
I know it's an expensive way to fuck with someone but there are a lot of people out there who would stop at nothing to harass someone.
Just a thought.

On another note I bet there are going to be a few ladies out there scrolling through their man's phone for that number. LOL!

Cheers

Sorry Clu, I interpreted that as from Winnipeg.... and since most of the posts are usually from Vancouver/West Coast.... that's why I made a comment.

I was wondering too.
I assume a billboard would attract more harassment than legit business...

It's legit. I emailed a comment after seeing the location on Academy Rd and she responded and we chatted a bit about it.

I bought a ton of billboard ads back in the day so I tend to notice them.

What do billboards tend to cost per month?

Really depends on the number of buys and locations. Visibility (GRP's) is key so some locations cost more than others. I was buying about a million bucks a year worth in 4 month rotations province-wide. This was the 2005-2010 time frame. About $800/board month then not including design/art work.

I was out last night with a couple of clients and their wives. Took them for their annual customer appreciation dinner.
At some point the conversation turned to the billboard. I guess one of the wives has seen the news articles.
Interestingly both women were pretty cool about it. Rather than condemning Serina, as so many women would or going into some kind of diatribe on prostitution, they both had the attitude that what happens between consenting adults is their business. It was quite a refreshing change from the comments this would normally elicit. I was especially surprised by the 76 year old wife of my one client, who was the most open minded.
I just sat there smiling and agreeing but didn't say much.
It was actually quite funny becasue at one point the older lady was even going on about how for some men who are single or busy it probably makes more sense. They all know I've been alone for years but I don't think she was aiming her comments at me.

We probably don't give that generation enough credit for their life experiences and how they have come to their opinions. They may have seen hardship themselves and view it as no shame for doing what you have to do to make your life.

The problem with open mindedness is that there are things that close it off; like religion, politics and public scrutiny...
