When Bill and Hillary first got married Bill said, "I am putting a box under the bed. You must promise never to look in it."

In all their 30 years of marriage, Hillary never looked.

On the afternoon of their 30th anniversary, curiosity got the best of her, and she lifted the lid and peeked inside. In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $81,874.25 in cash.

She closed the box and put it back under the bed. Now that she knew what was in the box, she was doubly curious as to why there even was such a box with such contents. That evening, they were out for a special anniversary dinner.

After dinner, Hillary could no longer contain her curiosity and she confessed, saying, "I am so sorry, Bill. For all these years, I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. However, today the temptation was too much and I gave in. But now I need to know, why do you keep the 3 beer cans in the box?"

Bill thought for a while and said, "I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again."

Hillary was shocked, but said, "Hmmm, Jennifer, Paula and Monica. I am very disappointed and saddened by your behavior. However, since you are addicted to sex I guess it does happen and I guess 3 times is not that bad, considering your problem."

Bill thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace. A little while later Hillary asked Bill, "So why do you have all that money in the box?"

Bill answered: "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling centre and redeemed them for cash."

Quite frankly "Slick Willie" is also an overrated president. But so are the previous two Democratic presidents before him. I always thought that if the Republicans had not been hijacked buy right wing Christain zealots then Clinton would have been an ideal Republican. He is living proof that the Democrats are no where near as "liberal" as they are made out to be.

This is true.
The political spectrum in the US now runs from slightly left of center to right of the far right,

He was the President of the UNITED FUCKING STATES and he was FUCKING an INTERN and he got caught. He obviously wasn't the most reponsible.

Pretty likeable guy, I enjoy hearing him speak, he is an excellent and productive ex president. He had some huge opportunities, but he got in his own way. There is no way to deny this. That being said a lot of his staff were in over their head (not ready for primetime) and as a result opportunites were squnadered.

You aren't President in a vacuum.

But definitely blame some one else for that. It just means the democrats still don't get it.

There is a line in Primary Colors.

"If we make it about ideas, we win, becasue our ideas are better." Being President of the United States isn't about ideas. It is about leadership. You have 18 months to initiate leader ship and then 4 years to execute a plan if you get re-elected.

Like it or not, agree with it or not, but GWB has been a leader in many ways. That will carry over as an example. He is doing things that people aren't really fond of, and as a results the republicans will always be able to say that they are willing to do the difficult things and suffer the concequences.

During the last election the American Majority seemed to appreciate that more.

The democrats don't seem to get that. They are more interested in trying to tell people what to care about. And they never seem to have enough leadership to all get in line behind something.

Personally the ideas may be great, but too many of them aren't legislateable.

EG. The left wants to legislate that the social safety net is societies #1 priority. The right suggest if they create a mechanism for a properous society the citizens will take responsiblity for the social safety net.

If you look at the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, society is stepping up to help the down trodden. A perfect example for the right of how it is supposed to work. Taking peoples money and telling them what you are going to do with it, is a hell of a lot less well received that letting them keep it and expecting them to do something positive with it.

It is funny most of the wealthy celebrities (democrats)are happy to donate time and in kind, but they are actually generating donations from the everyday population. I always find that funny. They stay rich, but the everyday citizens end up forking the cash.

I am of the opinion that every "in kind" donation needs to be inconjunction with some hard earned celebrity cash.

Rosie O'Donnel recognized this after 911 and was met with a backlash when she donated $1,000,000 and challeneged other celebrities to do the same.

$1,000,000 to her is like $0.10 for you or me.

You are correct --- the Democratic Party is slightly "right of center" compared with the rest of the world. The "center" in American politics divides those who obtain their funding from these overlapping groups of corporations and those overlapping groups of corporations. The Democrats are more generally more right than the Republicans when it comes to spending money they don't have, and have ended their terms with less deficit than Republican administrations.

There is a difference in social policy --- the Democrats are slightly more in favour of personal freedoms, and slightly less proactive in fighting wars and killing people.

You think these people are left wingers? The Internet Kid, Jane Fonda out of Drag. Do you think that any of them has missed a single meal in order to support what they profess to believe in? The only thing this lot believes is that they are so much smarter than anyone else that everyone should pay for their zany idea of the morning.

The leader of the Bloc in Quebec is truely left wing. He has missed meals to fund his beliefs, he has drafted social and labour legislation that is blind to the "donation" potential and he has extracted social benefits for all canadians from the unholy alliance that currently governs Canada.

I heard a rumour once that he nailed Markie Post(from "Night Court"). Didn't he also do a Miss America, Elisabeth Gracen?

It's an absolute joke to think that the political spectrum in the USA runs from anywhere other than right of centre to far right of centre. To call people like John Kerry "left" is absurd. There hasn't been a true "left" politician since Eugene Debs who ran five times for president as leader of the Socialist Party, the last time from prison in 1918. He'd been jailed for sedition for a speech he gave in June of that year. Here is an excerpt from that speech.

"And here let me emphasize the fact--and it cannot be repeated too often--that the working class who fight all the battles, the working class who make the supreme sacrifices, the working class who freely shed their blood and furnish the corpses, have never yet had a voice in either declaring war or making peace. It is the ruling class that invariably does both. They alone declare war and they alone make peace. Yours not to reason why; Yours but to do and die. That is their motto and we object on the part of the awakening workers of this nation. If war is right let it be declared by the people. You who have your lives to lose, you certainly above all others have the right to decide the momentous issue of war or peace....

You need at this time especially to know that you are fit for something better than slavery and cannon fodder. You need to know that you were not created to work and produce and impoverish yourself to enrich an idle exploiter. You need to know that you have a mind to improve, a soul to develop, and a manhood to sustain.... "

Damn right it's seditious to tell it like it REALLY is in America. I'm surprised they didn't hang him.

Well, let's say conservatively that you or I earn $40,000 a year.

That means that Rosie earns $400,000,000,000 a year by your calculation.
That's $400 billion.
I don't think she makes quite that much.

Yes, but after a cetain point the $1,000,000 means nothing.

My point is that good old left wing celebrities, believe the government is entitled to more of the rich folks money right (higher percentage of income taxed) etc. But really how much do they really donate.

Also if I chose to donate $100, $500, or $1000 dollars I am actually sacrificing something in my everday life. A nice meal, part of a vacation, another donation to my RRSP.

What is a celebrity that donates $50,000 really sacrificing, even at $1,000,000 Rosie had to give up nothing to give that money.

That is why I chose the $0.10 amount.

I will say good on Rosie O'Donnel becasue she called out the other celebrities, and they were pissed about it.

No different with the Elite Athletes. I read about Warrick Dunn from Atlanta suggesting that he was going to get $5,000 from every teammate. Sorry buddy that is mice nuts, these guys have earings worth more than that.
