Someone asked me an opinion on this and I knew exactly where to find the answer...he he!

Pictures please! I know there are several stylish guys on this board!

A nice blazer to wear with jeans to give that sporty classy casual look.

I second the motion for a tailored corduroy blazer (in a nice earth tone or olive green)

whatever you do, if you wear a turtle neck or some other sweater like that, don't tuck it into your pants. That's what old balding guys who are trying too hard do. Every time I see one of those, I puke.

This is for a guy who's a player. Most girls will be suspicious of any guy who dresses like that, and other guys will think you're some flamboyant fag. Never go for the white blazer unless you're on a special holiday in another country.

I have held my tongue too long...I need to respond to a few of your points Sperminator.

First post in this thread:

1. Pic #1 ... white jacket, deck shoes and no socks? Don't do it.

2. Pic #3 ... get your jeans shortened. A 3+ inch rolled up cuff looks plain bad.

3. Pic #5 ... get a jacket that is the right length. That one is too short. And don't roll up the jeans.

4. Pic #6 ... don't wear a plain white Tshirt under a pastel jacket. Better yet, don't wear pastel anything.

Second post in this thread:

1. Pic #2 ... don't wear a double breasted blazer. Esp not with jeans.

I will say I like the brown tweed jacket on the blue checked shirt. That guy looks well put together. But many of the others look sloppy eg ties crooked, jeans too long etc. And never wear a suit jacket with jeans, please.

Remember, there is a difference between fashion and style. Find the style you are comfortable with and that represents who you are. I like well tailored, well fitting classic lines as that is the image I want to project...masculine, confident, attention to detail. Don't just buy stuff that is out of a fashion magazine, because chances are it will not make you look like the models in the magazine. It will make you look stupid.

I'm partial to pic 3 in his second post. Now that is a nice jacket, and that floral dress and those stockings....mmm hmm!
But that's just me. :)

Jacket is one size too small, sleeves are too short, jeans are too long. And, that beret looks ridiculous! What a dork!! He looks like a boozer trying to pass himself off as an artiste.

If that's you, spermie, better check with your sales consultant about your size. Apart from whether one should ever wear a double-breasted jacket as casual wear, that blazer is way too short.

No other sports jacket is as timeless and classic and elegant as the navy blazer with brass buttons. You can wear it with jeans, with tan chinos, with corduroys, with grey flannel slacks or with WHATEVER. It will always look good.
Absolutely true but this is bullshit:

]Don't buy a black blazer in place of a navy blazer unless you're truly fucked in the head and you're still in your goth phase that you still haven't outgrown from your junior high years. And no, a black blazer is NOT more versatile than a navy blazer. A black blazer is blasphemous and lacks imagination and creativity and is for those men who don't know the difference between style and a hole in their head. Black is the colour of death and gloom and doom whereas navy is classic and classy and is the colour of the glorious oceans of our Mother Earth from which all life sprang on our beloved little blue planet.

So . . . if you value and cherish and worship and respect life on this planet, then you will wear a navy blazer; if, however, you worship death and disease and misery and suffering, then you will wear a mindlessly unimaginative and boring-as-fuck black blazer.
Black blazers may well be less versatile than navy ones, but they still look good with grey slacks, especially slacks with a subtle pattern. Black blazers look fantastic with tan or light taupe slacks too. And, for those looks, you do need black shoes.

You should only wear a white jacket if you're A. wearing a tuxedo B. Miami Vice.

But to the OP, it really depends on the person wearing the clothes. There are many factors to look at: their persona, whether they're 20's or 40's, slim or bulky, and etc. Style has a lot to do with the entire package of the person.

As an early 20's male, I probably couldn't pull off the WASP/Northeast prep look Spermie proposed. But it looks like your bases are covered if you are indeed pursuing that.

For a sporty early 20's male, like myself, there are two very basic looks I prefer. In the summer, I like to wear a slim navy blazer with brass buttons, and a pair of white pants. This is a very classic summer look (sorry no pics). For evenings or the club, I have preference for a slim short length black blazer, a dark shirt/polo, and a pair of nice expensive looking dark blue straight leg jeans(with a bit of a tapered leg opening).

These days, I like to play around with scarves and blazers/sport jackets. Like Mick Jagger has shown us before, a scarf can carry an entire look.

Look at the proportions, the sleeve lengths, and the scarf -- perfect. Though, I do not necessarily advocate wearing black blazer with white pants, unless if you can put it together as well as this gentleman.

The scarf here pulls the entire look together. Don't be afraid to wear bigger/longer scarves.

Can you tell me what's wrong with this picture?? :D:D:D

That is an excellent point. :) You have learned much, young one. The Fashion Force is strong with you. Obi-Wan Armani has taught you well.
Why, thank you. A stylish man yourself, you must be the Jedi sent to balance the Fashion Force . However, I've always believed Gianni Versace was a bit more dapper ;).

I absolutely LOVE the WASP/preppy look myself. It's so snobby, debonair, Old World elegant, timeless, and classic all at the same time. It's so WASP-i-licious!
Definetly. Men have never looked better then when this man was the style icon of the times. JFK was also a huge fan of Brooks Brothers, and was noted to be wearing black upon the last moments of his assassinated life =S.

1.) Jacket is far too baggy and has no shape

2.) Jacket shoulders are too wide and the sleeve length is FAR too long (no shirt cuff is exposed)

3.) Jacket length is far too long

4.) Jeans are too baggy and look like something a wigger would wear

5.) He's wearing FUGLY BLACK SHOES!!

6.) He's not wearing a pocket square

7.) He is the antithesis of Sperminator.
Bravo :D. You're missing one thing: the awful haircut. To the OP and everyone else, one of the vital aspects to style is the haircut. Women always look at two things first in males, hair and shoes. A hairstyle can single handedly make or break an outfit [check exhibit A; the young gentleman on the right would not be able to pull off the Ivy League look without the hair]. Consequently, my haircuts are frequent and never under $50 dollars.

Exhibit A:

ps. to a previous poster: please do not wear socks with boat shoes or loafers, unless if you're wearing the designed-to-not-show variety.

As I've said, bad and fatal things can, and most likely will, happen to you when you wear black. It's the 11th commandment: "Thou shalt experience bad and fatal things if thee is stupid enough to wear black."
Haha, that's probably why my black blazer and I haven't found Mrs. Stylish. A bit off topic, but any tips for finding women with actual style in Vancouver? Women are definetly more fashion forward than men, but they aren't necessarily stylish. God forbid I date a lady with Uggs and/or a Louis Vuitton monogram handbag. Anyways, if man is thee stupid enough to wear a BLACK SUIT, thou shall be punished in the lowest realms of hell :D.

Wrong again sperminator - huge collection of Tom Ford at our local Holt's. Not at all hard to find but he's damn expensive.

ps: you were also wrong about trading my olympic hockey tickets for ONE HELL of a duo with two well reveiwed local gals.

please let me know what stocks you buys so I can short them - smile.

Ugg's are fashion man, at least to females under 30. I'm surprised at their longevity too. They've been in style for several years now. I don't mind them, I more find them amusing seeing a chick in a tight shirt and skirt with Uggs on.
The only time I don't mind Uggs is when a girl is wearing tights with them. But I guess I'm focused looking at something else.... :p.

As for styling chicks..rule 1 is that they often = $$$$.
Probably. I find stylish women who don't come from proper, well off families, tend to have gold diggers qualities. But I guess it's quite difficult these days to find chicks who are good looking, stylish, and come from a proper, well off family :(. The search continues...

I find that, while women certainly enjoy fad fashion and love shopping, men tend to be fussier about the quality of their clothing. Women buy and discard, men tend to keep things...

I am not the only woman who stole her husbands underwear during pregnancy and discovered the extra padding in the front keeps the 'nooshy' warm in winter (pussy's are damp critters) and the cotton is better quality than what we find in ladies undies!

Mens undershirts are nicer too....

Quick question...
how long is too long for jeans when you want to wear them with a blazer? The same question goes for how slim/baggy as well.
Is there like a rule of thumb, eg. can't see socks, or something?
