Watched the UFC fights last nite (awsum!) at the Shark Club Vancouver (boo) which bills itself as the best. Was told there was no cover charge but get dinged $12/person on arrival. Ok, whutevs. Place is so crowded not sure if we can get a table. Find a dirty one & wait forever for service. Waitress apologizes all nite long for the long waits for drinks & badly cooked food. Women's washroom was flooded, men's had a huge lineup. A dozen LE show up minutes after the Lesnar win, presumably Shark Club has oversold the event. PPV is shut down. We spend 15 minutes at the bar trying to pay & get front row seats to a drunk mma wannabe who takes on the cops & loses by submission in handcuffs.

So where does a nice girl go to watch sports in this town? Not impressed with Shark Club.

MMANJOYMENT!

when did you become a nice girl?

anyways, try river rock. i've never watched the fights there but have at edgewater so i assume it's the same concept but better seats and newer venue.

oops! i just realized you said sports, not fights. in that case try your living room. you can control who comes in and keep the annoying ones out.

Schanks Sports Bar at the new Starlight Casino is the best place to watch an event in the area, hands down. They have 120 TV's including the biggest screen i've ever seen, food is great and they have lots of pool tables, virtual golf, mini golf etc. Plus the casino is right there for after the game.

The Shark Club has been going downhill for the past 10 years.

Agreed, on Schanks there Inamorato, also if in the area of Coquitlam, I agree that Woody's is great, so is Roo's & in PM there's Golden Spike which is a VERY loyal Canucks pub.

She asked for the best sports bar in Vancouver.
There isn't one in Vancouver!

All over priced & huge attitude.

Best to get over to the Tri-cities or Schanks in Queensborough.

G-Bar!!! on Granville.

Right near the corner of Davie and Granville.
I go there a few times a week to watch Football and UFC. It may be small, but they serve Jagger but the pint it seems.

VV I'll be glad to take you sometime. UFC then wrestling on your bed!!!

Caution you need to reserve ahead of time for UFC fights it gets packed quickly!!!

sammy j peppers on granville island is pretty good

bit of a mixed crowd of islanders having a bite after work, tourists, and sports fans

right at the entrance to the island on the left hand side as you enter the island (under the granville bridge)

RE: Best sports bar

Sometimes Rodney's Oyster bar picks up some PPV events. Not a bad place to watch an event and gorge on oysters. Sharks club is really, really overrated

I've read through this thread and have seen a lot of places recommended. Interestingly, though, there was only one comment about the food. Like VV, I'm very discerning when it comes to dining out, so quality, uniqueness and something that I can't easily get somewhere else is important. Of all the places suggested so far, Scores is the only one I've been to. I've had their breakfasts, which I would rate as decent. I don't know anything about the rest of their menu.

Aeiyah, have you ever eaten at Rodney's? I quite enjoy it, although the menu is small....are we talking about a place where one can eat and watch a game or just somewhere one can eat?

I had the "eatery" experience yesterday...The sushi was incredible

I watch most of my games at Roos too, the Spike is a bit of a dive.

Roo's is a good pub, good food, good vibe, but still just a typical sports bar.
The Royal Towers and Golden Spike are ok for drinks and watching a game, but the food is sub-par at best.

Jester's on Dunsmuir and The Kingston Taphouse on Richards are the best spots downtown for watching a game and having a meal. Both have a great menu. Jester's is a smaller place so it fills up quick, but The Kingston is nice and big with a few different rooms and patios.
