I've been mulling over trying to make some pizzas myself.

Marinated steak in honey/garlic with onion.
Smoked steak with roasted red peppers.
Marinated chicken in cumin (the spice!) with green apple slices (or avocado).
Portobello mushroom with sun dried tomatoes and sage.

Trying to find flavours that compliment each other.

Oh yes, cheese would be a blend of mozzarella and parmesan.

Not in Edmonton, BUT......the BEST pizza (by a long shot) is in a town called Smoky Lake, AB. The restaurant is called 'The Smokin' Chicken'.... check it out if ever in that town. They also have wood chip smoked chicken... mmm :) Definitely makes the drive to Cold Lake worth it.
Thanks for that. It's amazing what restaurants and food you can find in some of the smaller towns.

I wouldn't say Famoso has the best pizza in town. They may have the most AUTHENTIC Neopolitan pizza in town but it's not the BEST pizza in town.
I dunno...after eating the authentic pizza at Famoso, I can't really go back to the Americanized fare. Mind you, I've only had the Vesuvio, which is highly addictive and has a nice spicy kick to it. And it's best eaten in and fresh out of the oven, otherwise the crust will sog.

If you haven't yet been to Ragazzo on 82nd Ave at 81st street (between Old Strat and Bonnie Doon) you have not yet had Edmonton's best pizza.

Famoso is bland, I find. Its sauce has no zest, no zing. Nothing at all like a true Naples pizza from my recollection, so I'm not so sure why they claim it to be. I call Famoso an "Alberta Exotic" pizza, ie. its a fancy pizza for people who aren't used to food with true flavour ('cause face it, food is bland out here for the most part).

I think you meant Ragazzi Bistro Italiano (Pizza Boys) at 8110 82 Ave. (they are related to Tony's Pizza on 96th street and 111 Ave) - and no I'm not related to them but just a regular customer of both (just depends on which side of town I'm in when the "need pizza" gene kicks in). Both great places for Italian food as well - just a warning though, they are quite busy on weekends.

The great food comes from the fact that the principals of these places have lived and worked in NYC and have brought their genuine Italian recipes to Edmonton.

BTW: Their menus are available online as well.

What about this place, Il Forno in the West End. Supposedly run by Croatians (outstanding pizza in Croatia, if you've never been), its been recommended to me by two people, although I've never been. Anyone had the pleasure?
