If you could pick only one.
My choice [by a mile]:

{Disclaimer: haven't seen 'The Prestige' or "The Departed' yet}

I thought "Little Children" was by far the best movie I saw this year. It's director Todd Fields' followup to his "In The Bedroom". That 2001 release was nominated for all kinds of awards and won several of them. "Little Children" is an even better movie. Plus it allows you to ask yourself the question, would you leave Jennifer Connelly for Kate Winslet?

Did you see the Chinese movie on which it is based, called "Infernal Affairs"? It's pretty terrific too.

No i didnt, I didnt even know it was based on another movie but thanks for the heads up I will make a point of seeing it now :)

I enjoyed "In the bedroom" it was one of the few movies that made me squirm and feel uncomfortable... but in a good way, it forces you think about actions, consequences, still water running deep... all that stuff.

I am looking forward to seeing "Little Children" because of Todd Fields AND Kate Winslet

United 93

A riveting re-enactment of the events of 9/11 from various perspectives and made in a documentary style; air traffic control trying to comprehend what was happening, and the passengers and terrorists of the final hijacked plane that crashed into a Pennsylvania field as the passengers tried to retake control.

THe DVD has some very worthwile added material being interviews with the family members of those killed; exploring how they coped, what has happened in their lives since 9/11 and their reaction to the movie.

An Incovenient Truth

A compelling examination of the evidence supporting the case for global warming narrated by Al Gore.

I never really enjoyed too many mainstream films this year.

I did enjoy an independent film called Short Bus while I was in Toronto.

The Prestige was okay, maybe one step above good. I'll watch anything with Micheal Caine.

Lucky Number Sleven was surprisingly good. I like Ben Kingsley.

Never seen anything that has come to video that was worth raving over. I don't go to theaters that much.

United 93. Never expected what I got. The whole film - with no name actors and a few of the real people involved was seat-of-you-pants amazing.
