Scot Mendelson's unequipped world record of 715 pounds...

or, Ryan Kennelly's equipped world record of 1075 pounds...

my nod goes to Mendelson's T-shirt record of 715 pounds...

I'd have to go with Scot Mendelson's raw 715. He was the first Man to Bench over 800 pounds and has also benched 1008 pounds shirted... Though Ryan Kennelly's 1075 shirted is an insane lift to say the least.

Yes a topic of "interestedness" for me.:)

I wouldn't have given either lift a green light though...

particularly Kennelly's lift, he didn't even lockout...

powerlifting has become so fixated with big numbers that they green light almost everything...

I guess the next magical number is the 3000 pound total...

Yup, the same is true in BB comp.'s, the judgeing in the last few years have become so fixated on massive that esthetics has been thrown out the window.

Whatcha bench.
A question I have been asked about 200 times, by people at the gym, or even people that know I work out.
Its silly. So many guys make these claims....400....then when you watch them do it, its the partner lifting it off for them.
and dipping it down a third the way, pressing it back up with their legs kicking.
So I tell them some weird stat like i can do 225 for 24 reps. And there like 225 isn't very heavy

What they really should be asking is whatcha DL or Squat. A bench isn't really a good indicator of raw strength but it is the first question everyone asks.

no matter how you look at it, its still some pretty impressive weight to move. i agree though that the motions have been sacrificed completely for the sake of "weight", but still, try lifting 1000lbs let alone bench it. although, from the vid above, getting slapped multiple times by that ugly ho would make anyone bench 1000 lbs!

They need to do it with proper form. None of this arching the back stuff.
That is the proper form, arch, tuck and pull.. A flat back takes away from the pecks and transfer's too much to the delts hence why so many complain about shoulder injuries, it's not due to haveing lifted too much weight it's due to poor form.

they say of the three powerlifts, the deadlift is the best indicator of overall body strength...

it is the only lift that starts from a static position...

Andy Bolton being the only person on the planet to deadlift over 1000 pounds (1003 pounds)...
