You've got to be kidding.
The Socred/Libs just oversaw 16 years of the worst corruption in Canada. Unfettered money laundering that directly led to, increased gang violence, houses as speculative investments, cash transactions with no records, fentanyl overdoses and a general deterioration of the quality of life in BC. It couldn't have been any worse. None of those crooks should ever be allowed to run for office again.
What happened in BC was worse than anythnig in Quebec, and none of it would have been exposed if Crusty had managed to squeeze her fat ass into the Premier's chair again.
Hey, like I said- the Lib-SoCreds definitely aren't clean either. No party in BC is.
And I won't dispute the money laundering BS- although there is a lot more to speculative housing and the housing crisis than that. Knock housing costs back 30% and does it really help the average income earners? $1M for a 900 sq. ft. one BR condo instead of $1.4M? Not bloody likely.
And the fentanyl crisis isn't completely fueled by it either. Dealers will always prey on the weak.
And gang violence will continue regardless.
But I'll take the Libs over the NDP any day of the week.
You've been around the block- can you honestly say that Glen Clark and Moe Sihota were poster boys for anti-corruption?
And BC had such a great investment and employment climate in the 90s? I recall mass exodus to Alberta.
And Horgan isn't going to tax this province into oblivion?
No bridge tolls- but wait for the mobility tax. Guaranteed to affect more people with increased costs. Gas and transit taxes are again on the rise too.
$10 daycare- then backing off and saying it was just a "slogan"? But who will pay for everyone's brats? Me and you- and I don't even have kids.
A family finds it tough to have a decent lifestyle and support 3-4 kids or pay for care so both parents can work? Simple- don't fucking have them.
This is not an indictment of single or abandoned mothers struggling to make ends meet. That's a separate social issue
And the soon to be "stacked deck" referendum on voting reform? If it passes then we're stuck with an NDP/Green combo dinner for the foreseeable future. Yikes! When the electorate gets sick of their act (which they surely will- history is extremely cyclical on this) then what? Be careful what you wish for.
Just the tip of the iceberg with further spreading other's "misery" onto the taxpayer's toast..
We agree on Christy- was time for her to go. And maybe the Legislature needed a shake up.
Well- it's happening now.
