Before you drink and drive, remember this. I am not recovered emotionally from working on this situation and probably never will be.

Not too long ago, a drunk driver ran a red light and slammed into a family. His estimated speed was 180 kph. There was a 3 year old child in a car seat. The car seat was propelled out of the car and into a tree. The child remained strapped in the car seat. The child became impaled on a tree branch. When emergency crew arrived that is how he was found - dead and skewered on the tree branch, still in the tree.

All emergency workers who attended are under counseling for this. No one involved in this situation was prepared for something like this.

Think about that before you have an extra one for the road.

I've had many first responders pour their hearts out to me in the past. Thank you so much for the work you do, and I hope you can find comfort for your pain.

Thank you Sarah. I should qualify that I am not a first responder, though I share your admiration for them. I get involved in these matters at a different level. Fortunately I did not have to actually see this at the scene but was required to review the photographs and speak to the people involved, including the decimated family members.
