Hey @80watts I’ll bet you 10% off a session that you’re a doomsday prepper
I have camping gear. Which is better a 4 man tent or a smaller w person ultra lite tent to romp in. Although I like the idea of a a survival hiking staff. Rope, fishing hooks, fishing line, a spear blade for fishing etc. Do you like to hike or semi rough it at a campsite?

Rant Warning…

Spec tax = failed program. Flawed logic. I kno, tax the rich somehow resonates, but when you hassle the middle class and make everyone your spec-tax bitches even tho a very small percentage pay anything at all, you just piss off your swing voters.

Check out housing prices in Vancouver lately? Yup, all the gov’t interventions = epic fail. No bubble here because demand > supply for years to come. Thery have no answers, Vancouver council and BC cronies need to just get the fuk out of the way and let the people and yes the developers build the future—city planners just fuck around and red-tape / slow down / over-regulate housing projects for the people that really need it. Why the fuk would anyone want to be a landlord under the current gov’t restrictions? Provide incentives and get out—that’s the difference between Policy and Perversion.

Supply issues? Oooh, spec tax didn’t fix that because the $6M home got rented to a guchi-toting big wig and their entourage. DTES-ers will never be moving in there. Homeless crisis solved? Opiod crisis averted? Nope! Fuk all you worthless politicians. Words are poinless when your policies and programs predictably fail. And when someone close to you dies, they are a statistic and not a soul.

I don’t believe in anarchy.
I don’t believe in beuracracy.

I believe in humanity.

Make some tough calls you fucktards! Create controversial yet legit spaces for people to live, pitch yout tents, park your beat-up old trailers, and link up support resources there instead of endlessly fighting the dissadvanted street culture hoping it will go away, while yacking about how ‘complicated’ an issue it is. Newsflash—real leaders uncomplicate things and make courageous decisions. Frankly we vote in do-gooders that don’t have the guts.

Spec tax? Bigger WOT than the worst SP in YVR.

Bureaucracies simply don't want to cool down the real estate market (and rent by extension.) The higher the prices, the more property tax income! Why do you think gas stations and other non-residential premises are replaced by condos like dandelions in the summer?

At best, the Spectax is just a gesture. At worst, it's another excuse to harass (guilty of speculation unless you declare otherwise) and collect information on homeowners.
