I don't know about the Lions. For the past few seasons, they always seem like they are coming up from behind. They get themselves in a big hole and then go on a streak into the playoffs before being eliminated in the west final. I think Wally is done as a coach. He is one of the best if not the best coach in CFL history, but his style of play is done. No shame in that, just sometimes the game evolves and you can't evolve with it.
I think the Lions have the personnel to be successful in the league, especially on defense. They produced Cameron Wake and I think they have another gem in Solomon Elimimian. Guy is always hustling, always working with great football sense. If the Lions can keep a strong defence, even with a mediocre quarterback iI think they can get to the Grey Cup. They need a more prolific passer to best utilize the guns in their receiving core like Simon and Bruce. The Argos game this week they should have destroyed them but conservative offence kept the Argos in the game. Lulay doesn't have that killer instinct. Someone like Ricky Ray or Anthony Calvillo does.
I hope the Lions are successful but with the current state of their offence, I don't think they will. They may get to the West final again but Calgary or maybe Edmonton can probably beat them in a one off. The defense will have to win games for the Lions because I think they have one of the strongest in the league.
