I thought this issue deserved to be discussed in a separate thread devoted to it, and with no names. From another thread started today:
This has happened before on other boards, and the result is nearly always the same. I believe it is now TERB's policy to delete threads in which it is alleged that a particular SP is providing BBFS, and I'm not sure why the mod didn't delete the other thread here on PERB.
There are several problems with this type of post:
1. Because everyone is anonymous, at least to a certain extent, it is impossible to verify impartially the claims made in posts. As I said in the other thread, most of these posts are ultimately found to have been made by other SP's trying to damage someone else's business. That's surely not the case here, but it's usually the case.
2. These claims cause many regular clients of the accused SP to stay away from her, at least until the dust settles.
3. Other SP's decide they don't want to see clients they know to also be regular clients of the accused SP.
4. A lot of guys, probably mostly lurkers and definitely risk-takers, contact the accused SP looking for BBFS. If the claims were false, her life is thrown into turmoil from all the unwanted attention, and she might even decide to leave the business. If the claims were true, her business may increase. Ironically, that's precisely the opposite effect of what the thread starter intended.
There have been many PM's exchanged on this matter since the other thread started. Information shared privately between posters with a history and who trust each other is almost always more reliable than that posted publicly. IMO, that's the way this situation should have been handled in the first place.
Yes, it is scary, and it underlines one of the main reasons why I was against discussing this situation in public, and preferred that it be handled via PM's.big_pegger said:alot of people have PM'ed me asking about BBFS from xxxxxx, and wanting contact info as well.
I guess there are quite a few perberts out there that want BBFS from an SP.
That's scary.
