basic needs and safety in south america

Hi guys,

I have to apologize in advance for low level of prior research on my questions as I am newbie and under the deadline for my vacation. I had some questions about the basic needs and safety of them for a trip and was hoping to get some ideas

1. Are well-known credit cards like mastercard generally usable for payments?
2. can we take cash from our debit cards on their ATM?
3. do our service providers, support internet and call there?
4. is it safe to get street food and use taxis there or should we make our food and find a trusted driver?
5. how safe are the hotels and especially airbnbs there if we need to leave some valuables at home?
6. how difficult is it to get by if you don't have very good Spanish? Do translation apps work?

Never use credit cards for sexwork overseas. You are asking for trouble/fraud.

Your debit card will work if you do the homework and use the right ones, plus network, that kind of thing. Always use a bank ATM, never a private one, you never know if a private one is legit.

The rest of your questions are probably better researched on a travel website, but perhaps others have been there. I'd suggest you name the countries you are interested in.
