Was just starting to dip my dick back in the pooning waters, and now Omicron shows up.

Have to rethink participation at least through the winter.

Anyone else backing away due to increased rates of infection, and just the general "what's next" situation?

Nope, double vaxed will get triple if offered. Its enough defense to try to live again with some ridimentary percautions.

Not taking your concerns lightly. However, to date there has yet to be a reported death from Omicron world wide.

Is It True That No One Has Died of Omicron Variant?

This is where I’m at too. Actually, I’m going to Seattle to get a booster next week. Barely know of any first or second hand breakthrough cases and they were all asymptomatic only caught by travel/ work place testing. If i had chronic immune disease might be a different story but not slowing down, for the moment anyway.

With all due respect, that's kind of what was said when Covid started. For weeks, or months this very site kept deleting any posts that even mentioned Covid at the beginning, but now we have a whole Covid sub-section. Denying, ignoring or downplaying what is happening doesnt mean it might not be happening.

Did you read the article you linked to?
It says "British Prime Minister Boris Johnson told reporters that at least one person who tested positive for the variant had died. The UK Health Security Agency substantiated that remark."
This is Snopes. Did you read this part??

I'm triple-vaxed and had been thinking of getting back in the game early in the coming year. Now I'm thinking I'll wait until Omicron is better understood. I've put in almost two years of abstention now. Don't want to blow all that by jumping back in too soon.

The triple shot seems to hold it at bay, I did give it a try a few months ago and the top dollar lady I went to see unfortunately served up some beached Seabass alla perfume which really turned me off. Looks like a wait for the New Year and what it brings would be the wisest choice for me as well as getting reacquainted with the Palm Sisters!

UK booster level is at 41%. Wide use of self test kits. London-based board I am on has scenes of people waiting hours for boosters.
Can’t find good data on Canadian boosters at the moment. Looks like about 2.5 million but reporting is inconsistent.
Omicron in the UK may appear less severe only because of the population being mostly vaccinated.
My opinion is they are far more prepared for Omicron than Canada and our outcomes will be worse.

I'm getting boosted next week and will hold off on seeing anyone until January at the earliest. Recharge the antibodies and see what the situation looks like in the new year. I'd guess we're headed back to indoor gathering size restrictions and perhaps more.

Gotta agree with westwoody, Canadian eligibility for boosters is all over the map depending on the province you're in, and the same goes for the use of rapid tests. The UK have been handing them out like free condoms at an olympic village for some time now but we're still dithering about it (here in MB at least)

A reference site that a number of groups working with rapid testing are using is:
https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations?country=CAN
This is administered from Oxford Univ and would be considered as a very good source of current data.

As of Dec.12 Canada has about 7% of the population boosted. Almost 82% with at least one shot and about 77% doubly vaccinated. Total population including kids in this mix which frankly is what should be used now to compare how the various developed countries are doing with this. The %-ages in the developing world are extremely low which is of pretty grave concern if you view the world as one giant viral pool.

The pace of omicron infections is very high and if that infection rate continues will be the dominant strain in Canada in the next couple weeks. The good if you want to call it good, is that for the most part if you are vaccinated symptoms will be relatively mild. The bad is that R values greater than 1 keep the virus going and mutating and on and on. There are breakthrough cases in the fully vaxxed including boosted which shows how strongly the strain is shedding once it gets a toehold in any host, including vaccinated ones.

So to Poon or Not to Poon? Is this the same as it was in mid 2020? Is your risk higher now? Headed into 2022 do you just say 'fuck it' I want to get on with my life? Or do we all lock ourselves away with our favourite jack off toy and become masters of masturbation.

Its a pretty damn frustrating situation and as you move on along times arrow as I am doing, you start thinking (old man yelling at cloud) YOU FUCKER UP THERE. Don't take away these last good pooning years!!

cheers all, MPH

Recently, I was just seeing a couple of my favourites and I was considering to start venturing out more. Considering how infectious omicron is, I might have to reconsider... at least until there is greater understanding of omicron...

Again, you go off on tangent. What the fuck has snopes got to due wuth the fact Omicron is relatively new, is spreading rapidly, nobody is sure how it might affect people and whether it might mutate again? It now appears to affect younger people more than older, which is the opposite of what the original Covid was doing. If it spreads faster, which it reliably does, that just increases the potential for other things to show up.
...and WHO is showing concern...https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10314249/Ive-never-concerned-pandemic-tonight-Covid-19-envoy-warns.html
