Get pissed at the Parents not the Kids.
As a father twice over and as a professional working man I have complete sympathy with both sides of the story.
On the Topic of movies.
Parents do have a special time and conditions for movies every wee. The sound is turned down lights are on slightly so that you can see your kid, and everyone there knows what is going on. Parents that take kids that are under 2-3 years old to a normal movie are insane due to the damage that it can cause their Childs ears. The music is far too loud for them.
Kids that are older should only be taken to an AGE appropriate movie and they should be well behaved but everyone should realize must that kids are kids and they do no always behave properly. Parents SHOULD work on controlling their kids during the movie, but if it is a kids type movie (G rated) Adults that can not tolerate kids should go to a late show, when most responsible parents should have their kids in bed.
On the topic of Restaurants.
Parents with kids will often have two types of outings. With Kids/No Kids
Parents that are willing to take the time and instill manners into their children should never be denied access to any restaurant. Once a month my family goes out to an expensive restaurant ($$$$) and has a pleasant evening of fine dinning and conversation and PARENTING. If you teach your kids from a young enough age what is acceptable behavior in restaurant, it usually isn't a problem. But kids will be kids and I will NEVER appologize for my child. I will apologize for my lack of control, my loss of grip on her hand, her failure to be polite. These are not my children’s failures (Girl 4, boy 2) but my own.
I will agree that a child should always stay at the table, Should never be loose on a plane and that they should not be inconsiderate to others.
But if children are denied a good example of what is appropriate and what is not THEN our children grow up to be uncaring, inconsiderate, intolerant and self centered like some of people I have seen on this board. The people that request a seat away from children are a prime example of where our society is headed.
I am sorry for my Rant for a first post but I get frustrated with ignorance easily.
