Rented a car on Oct 22, 24. On that date I made a parking error and caused 883 dollars worth of damages. My insurance agreed to pay and I gave info to Turo.
Turo told me they normally don't deal with insurance if its under 1k pursuit, don't know if they are lying. They said they wanted to keep me as a customer so they would do this for me this time.

Well today 13 days later, I got sent to collections. I think I have been on the phone for over 1 hr today to reverse this.

I really really regret dealing with a shady company like this, who sends someone to collections in 13 days time frame of car incident.

It turned me off so much even if I was a millionaire in the future I will say F off to travel, its not worth the hassles, everything you want to see is on youtube anyway. Thats another story for another day, but right I wish I had never left my city to see another. Wherever you go there you are anyway I never feel I escaped.

Did you get the minimum insurance or the basic insurance package? Did your credit card to book it?

I had to admit I've only used Turbo twice and one time it was great and second time it was terrible.

I paid thru Visa, and visa told me they don't cover for Turo rentals. I declined all insurance packages, someone said turo goes thru you own insurance 1st and they are always 2nd to pay out.

I was advised to go thru insurance instead of paying directly because the Turo owner may go after me later for

1. loss of use of car during repair
2. Time spent away from job due to handling this
ETC.

This discussion is just confusing to me, since I have no idea what anyone is talking about. Turo? (or Turbo?).

Perhps that's just further evidence that I'm way out of touch with the world I live in.

If you have Roadstar with ICBC, I have found their included rental coverage and claims admin to be better than my credit card coverage.

I dunno. I was in LA and rented a car and when I showed them my roadstar card they said "oh you don't want full coverage" or words to that effect. They upsold me so I went along without really understanding the fine print.
After that in TO, same sort of thing happened. Roadstar don't cut it they said. Buy the extra and you can wrap the car around a tree and walk away without paying an extra dime. So I went for it. Glad I did I suppose. Smashed rear end first into a metal pole about an hour before returning the car. Getting gas. Didn't have to pay a dime extra. So I suppose it was ok.
