Auditors to deepen probe into Pamela Wallin

What does 'Trusted Journalist" have to do with financial honesty? It's not like she and Mike were pulling down $20,000 per year & chasing stories in 20 year old beaters when they were household names in their journalism gigs. They were pampered stars with hefty salaries and hefty expense accounts. As long as their ratings were good, would their spending see much scrutiny? In the private sector, they were entitled to their entitlements to paraphrase David Dingwald (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Dingwall)

Unfortunately, when Pam & Mike moved from the private sector to the public, they seem to have made assumptions about what entitlements they were currently entitled to...

Good point. I guess it was naive of me to think.

Wallin's home province is Saskatchewan and she has not lived there in years. Her expenses apparently were covering her to return "home" to Saskatchewan. Whereas she could have hopped on the Via Rail First Class from Ottawa to Toronto for less than 10% of the cost of a Business Class Ticket on Air Canada.

I believe in the Senate as the "Sober Second Thought" house because "what if" some party was elected with a majority in Parliament and tried to ram through all sorts of legislation that was detrimental to the public? Take away Health Care? Abolish Abortions? Only give Welfare to the Mentally Ill?

If there was no Senate, then that scenario could be a reality. Of course, I would like to see Senators elected and for a fixed period of time say max of 8 years. Another thing I would want to see is they only be paid if they actually show up for work. I recall one Senator who lived in Arizona for most of the year and he would only return to Ottawa once in a blue moon to keep being paid.
