Thanks for the info however a few observations:

- It's interesting that this seems to have only been picked up by Indian news lol who's dedicated a whole 1/2 page to a short article which doesn't link to the study or any of the researchers responsible for the study.......or anything else for that matter.

- While I'm not advocating for CIM/Swallow/BBBJ - I would like to know how this article should change ones views about these practices/services and their risk level? There always was virus present in semen and this has always determined the risk factor related with the above activities. So I'm not sure how this article changes that..?

The only new thing the article reports is that a study seems to indicate that:

- In some men, the virus found in semen is identical to the one found in their blood, which they believe indicates the virus found in the blood seems to be imported to the genital tract/semen.

- And in other men, the virus found in their semen seems to be different than the one found in their blood - apparently due to the virus replicating locally in the genital tract.

What does that have to do with CIM, BBBJ, swallow?
And how do these findings affect our understanding of the risks up until now?

IMO, Virus is virus... who cares if it's the same or different in blood or semen? It's not like ones more or less desireable than the other! I guess I'm wondering what your point is.

Plus, just some friendly advice here, but next time... if you're going to pretend to genuinely care about our welfare and health... you might want to address us using a less derogatory word. Otherwise, no point even trying to pretend. Just sayin'.

Did find some articles with a bit more info:

"While it remains unknown how these differences change the biology of the virus or if these changes are important for the transmission process, it is clear that the virus in the blood does not always represent the virus at the site of transmission," said author Dr. Jeffrey Anderson.

From: http://esciencenews.com/articles/20...ienceNews/popular+(e!+Science+News+-+Popular)

It's not known if these differences change the biology of HIV or if these changes play an important role in HIV transmission. What is clear is that HIV in the blood doesn't always represent the HIV at the site of transmission, the scientists reported.

From: http://kroger.staywellsolutionsonline.com/Library/News/6,642204

"If everything we know about HIV is based on the virus that is in the blood, when in fact the virus in the semen can evolve to be different, it may be that we have an incomplete view of what is going on in the transmission of the virus," said senior study author Ronald Swanstrom, PhD, professor of biochemistry and biophysics and of microbiology and immunology at the UNC School of Medicine

...

Swanstrom's laboratory is now exploring whether evolutionary selection for some special property of the virus is occurring in the seminal tract that does not happen in the blood. Knowing how the virus in the semen is different is an important part of understanding the HIV transmission puzzle.

From: http://www.physorg.com/news201428736.html

In other words: Might be a great discovery to help us learn more about the virus and ways of transmission - down the line. But it doesn't change what we know now, not in the least, nor does it have any specific or direct effect on what we know now in regards to risks associated with CIM/BBBJ/Swallow.

You're exactly right; it's called 'bias'.

What are you talking about? I don`t see hypocrisy in this situation. Maybe there is a double standard but I think it has a lot to do with context as well.

You can`t expect that no one will take offense or find your use of the word unnecessary. Especially when the context is something of a "serious" nature; you`re trying to give warnings/advice/opinion against services you do not approve of...That context makes it easy to interpret your use of the term as derogatory. It would have been just as easy and effective to use "sp" or "ladies" instead of "hookers". That`s just my opinion, but I think it was a poor and inappropriate choice of word for the title of this thread.

In what sense? I`m not sure I understand what you mean.

Yes, I had my knuckles rapped for using the word "hooker". It`s disrespectful to working girls and I, of all people, should know better. LOL

My personal feelings about it are that it`s not necessarily always offensive, disrespectful or derogatory but that it very much depends on who says it, how the words used and the context it`s used in - that makes a difference. This makes it tricky to know when it might be okay to use the word or when it isn`t appropriate... so when in doubt, it`s better and easier to just use another word you know won`t be offensive to anyone. IMHO.

Why not quit googling the story and actually read it instead?

Hm, I'm really not sure what you're on, what you're talking about it here...and what your point is...

But considering I made quite a few comments about it (the article)....do ya kinda figure I had to have read it...? maybe? huh?

Looks like perhaps you should spend less time worrying about things that are of no consequence whatsoever and spend more time actually reading posts you want to respond to.

Such a story needs validation. Trust but validate...

How did you move from her verification of the story not not reading it? That's an interesting inference. :p

No kidding. What is he talking about?

He must have made a wrong turn somewhere cause he lost me and I'm not going down that road to find him.... so let's just hope he's got GPS. :p

Kind of like the "N" word, buddy. African-American's can throw that word around all they want & barely get a raised eyebrow. If a Homie drops it though, look out! race war!
It's also best not to call someone who is black and not born in the US an "African-American", or you get into a whole 'nother ball of wax and take the offence and arguments to a different level. :p

I thought the term "black" as a racial description was offensive...

~sigh~

I'm glad I'm a homosexual Jewish native American. Things are so much simpler this was...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, are you one of the many druggies in this trade? That would explain everything here.

Post one in this thread.

It makes reference to an article.

First word in said article is "Washington".

Now just exactly what is it about that which makes the obvious so difficult for you to comprehend.

Or maybe you have no idea where any W-a-s-h-i-n-g-t-o-n is?
