So an interesting thought comes to my head while I read the post and the responses...

There are tribes in Africa and South America where young girls are wed at 12, and quite often mothers by 14, is this wrong?, their cultures have been around many years longer than Modern Day, It brings up a real question about imposing values, customs, traditions and beliefs.

I'm not saying I like the idea, but where should we draw the line with our interference of other cultures, is the benchmark set at "If we think it's disgusting then we need to intervene?"

I think it's dangerous to just say "that's their culture" when it clearly is something that hurts people. That's my personal line, I'll tolerate any cultural differences, unless it hurts another person. And I think that's more than reasonable. There's definitely a way to be critical of other cultures (because I'm also critical of my own) while still being respectful. Because it's also dangerous to condemn an entire culture based on what is often just the actions of only a segment of that population.

In regards to the child porn issue, I remember seeing a documentary a year or two ago which spoke with convicted pedophiles. And all the ones they spoke to said they couldn't keep it just a fantasy. If they fantasized about children, they then watched child porn, which sooner or later ended up in them directly abusing children themselves. They admitted that they knew it was wrong but there was no way they could control themselves.
