Assholes, and not the good kind, seem to follow a trend so concrete that I would risk slandering an entire subset of an ethnic community because of it.

But before I do that and also risk being banned and flamed, let me say a few well-deserved good words for these people.

For the six years I was in university getting my two degrees, many of my best friends were the guys from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. These were among the brightest boys in our faculty and they believed in sharing their understanding with anyone who was sincere about our education.

In the early years of my career, some of the hardest working and humblest persons were the guys from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. I respected them as professionals. They deservedly rose in the ranks and they deserved success.

Some of these guys became great friends, and I still maintain contact with them even though I moved 10 years ago. These guys, as friends, are among the most loyal and honest, and principled. These guys are the very definition of friendship.

I have been a regular at Wreck Beach for 4 years, going every weekend and any holiday weekday in the summer. But a completely unexpected phenomenon has occurred that has enraged me to no end. One incident was so bad, I physically attacked one of them as the rest of the group hung back.

It seems that among the 20 to 30 something year olds of that community, it has become some form of sick entertainment to hang out in large groups, usually 5 or more, clothed, and surreptitiously photograph and video attractive nude women. In my case, my young female companion. Each time it's the same, they sit nearby and strategically place themselves so they get crotch shots. They are fully clothed. They hold cell phones at suspicious angles, or pretend they are taking pictures of each other, or pieces of wood. They are brazen. They think you are stupid and they are somehow of superior intelligence than you that you would fall for it.

What they don't seem to realize is everybody knows what they are doing. They also don't realize that I learned basic punjabi and understand what they are saying, and that I know of "Desi" and "Masala" porn sites where these idiots post these pictures. It's sickening the way they talk of non-Indian women, calling them all sluts or pigs for showing their bodies naked or provocatively dressed, yet being completely enthralled and lusting after them. It's sickening that at the same time, beautiful Indian women are scorned into dressing from head to toe fully covered while they speak about fucking some pale skinned white girl or light skinned asian, using her and discarding her. Their hypocrisy makes me vomit.

What happened to the decent guys of that community? Did they get married, move on, but forgot to teach their children not to disrespect women, not to swagger about like gangsters, etc.?

I stress that I've seen this happen too many times to dismiss as some random bunch of idiots of any community. In posting this, I hope to gain some insight, and I would love to be wrong... but this constant reoccurrence has disillusioned me.

ass holes come in all colors first of all

that being said it might be cultural
like you said there women are forced to cover up from head to toe and well somtimes it gets extreme. and i guess certain cultures tend to treat sex or women in certain ways, so when they get to a beach or a nude beach they are like little punk ass wise ass kids you would like take out some where and tune them up

i remember from calgary and sasketchewan a bunch of us older guys went down to mexico in the dead of winter we left ok.
we all sort of stood in awe of the bikinis and the thongs and the occasional topless girl on the beach.
most of us just went wow life is good.

but one guy in particular had is phone out and took pictures everytime he could
don't know but there is a peeper type guy out there who likes to peep and take pictures if he can

its really very juvenile and i guess part of it comes from being horny and doing with out, or i guess being in a relgion that controls or limits ones sexuailty

i know from myself being horny and doing with out sex wasn't a good thing, i tended to look a little bit to long at a beautiful women or a women who was showing some skin, for me it was harmless i looked until i realized i was looking or got caught looking and felt like an idiot. some guys just don't have self control or are worried about being an ass is all

so i would say these guys are all horny and doing with out.

i kind of think your at a nude beach what do you expect.
there is going to be jerks a bunch of colored guys or one lone white guy trying to sneak some pictures.

as far as i know its not illegal to take a picture of some one in a public place if your not going to use the picture for comercial purposes

it is just a sign of today's immature and infantile adult male. You need to comment back to them in their language then they know they are not being sneaky (I do the same around Chinese when the opportunity arises). Stand up in front of your lady and let them get sausage pics, then say out loud something so other's will look at them as if they are gay. Indian males like this won't be able to handle the stigma of being looked at as being gay.

Yes, I do stand up and walk towards them, and I say a few words in punjabi. One time I went to grab the phone. Another time I (naked) swung at one guy's head while the others, all cowards (all clothed), stepped back.

It's illegal, even in public, to sneak a photo of someone's private areas without their permission. It's in the law with regard to reasonable rights to privacy. For example, you can't photograph up some girl's skirt, no matter how short. And you definitely can't be taking photo of some girl's pussy without talking to her about it first because it's an invasion of privacy. And you DEFINITELY can't be posting it on the internet without their permission, which is what these fuckers are doing.

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
Its a nude beach. Of course you're going to see assholes. You'll likely also see buttocks, tits, pussies and cocks. ;)

Seriously, that's the problem with "public" nude beaches. They unfortuantely not only attract nudists but all kind of pervs looking for cheap thrills and because they are a "public" place they have a right to be there. I'm not sure what the invasion of privacy issues are here. I thought in this day and age you needed someone's permission to take their picture but maybe only if it shows their face.
On another but related note. There was a situation here the other day where some creep was taking pictures of young children at Grand Beach. Close ups of their buttocks, chests, groins, etc. When the cops were called, despite finding a lot of creepy images on this guys camera of young kids because they were all clothed, the cops said he was doing nothing illegl and had to let him go.
WTF?

Here's the news story.

It's also illegal to "swing at someone's head", whether his friends are cowaring or not... That would be assault. You are aware that you are in Canada, right?

these guys being chauvinistic a..holes toward women is cultural,I guess.Women are considered inferior in their twisted beliefs.

not surprising that they all stepped back.....after all, there were only 5 of them.

I didn't begin to assault him until he refused to hand over his cell phone to me. The jerk threw his cell phone to one of his buddies when I swung at his head. A crowd soon got up and separated us, and told them to leave. That was last year. Another bunch of those jerks, again all clothed, again all pretending they were just doing nothing, again all sitting in suspicious positions, did the same thing yesterday - our second day on the beach this year. This time I told them to put their cameras away and kept glaring at them.

Oh what the fuck. this happened to a female friend last year when we went down to wreck. Creepy brown dude kept following her around at a distance taking photos. She finally ran up to him and threatened to pepper spray him if he didn't stop so he left.

I don't get why these douchebags think it's ok. Too bad LE on the beach can't put a stop to it.

on yer ignore list
go down there with a bunch of dudes and set up a nude beach volleyball game right where they're sitting. make sure to kick LOTS of sand around... every time they move, move the game along with them... they'll get the message. hell maybe they'll even offer to take a swing at you, at which point you are perfectly justified in 'defending' yourself

I'm anti-violence but I don't blame you jc for throwing a punch. Probably not the best idea, because if anyone will get charged it'd be you, but I still don't blame you for doing it. Assholes need to know they're being assholes. However, let's not all get on the holier-than-thou pedestal here. I'm INCREDIBLY grateful I live in Canada, and not some countries where women's rights are non-existent, but women are still disrespected ALL THE TIME here. Those could've just as easily been white suburban young adult men born and raised in Vancouver, and it wouldn't have surprised me one bit. I get there's cultural differences, I'm not denying that, and I'm sure that plays into it, but we are far from a perfect society. I mean there's been a few comments here on perb that make me never want to meet the person who wrote it, they're that sexist and misogynistic, and I'm sure many of them were born here.

However, no matter who's being the asshole, put them in their place. Preferably without violence, as it tends to do more harm than good, and usually for you and not them. There are extremely effective ways to intimidate people without violence. The reason they come there often is cause they know they can get away with it. So don't let them get away with it.

WB regulars are very good at policing the clothed voyeurs and hassling/shaming them until they go away.

Demanding a phone or camera and swinging (just what were you swinging, anyway?) at someone isn't cool anywhere and immediately puts you in the wrong.
Contrary to what you might think, it is not illegal to take pictures of anyone on a public beach with or without their permission, clothed or not.

That's what "public" means - you are not on or in private property. However, even that is a grey area - if you can be seen from a public location but you are in a private area someone can still legally take your picture. Permission isn't required.

There are quiet, out of the way places at Wreck Beach that can keep you hidden from voyeurs if you choose. Face it - a lot of people go to WB to flaunt their nudity, but want to choose who gets to see them. You lose that option at a public beach.

.
Even if you are in a public place, you still have the right to a reasonable expectation of privacy. That is why in Canada, it is illegal to surreptitiously take a photo up a skirt of a woman walking down the street. The law can be applied to a nude beach: a person can complain that their privacy was being violated because the photographer took the photo surreptitiously, and a sympathetic cop can charge you under the provision of the law. The defendant will have to fight the legality of the matter in court.

Can you call the police?
The next time this happens, I will tell them I am calling the police and will tell the police they have been snapping photos of people under 18 years old and also children. That's an indictable offence (at least 2 years jail), and it's making child porn - which might have a mandatory minimum.
