When the news anchor said "Ho Lee Fuk", all the newsroom crew must have been laughing their heads off. The NTSB intern probably saw this as pranking the news media and didn't think the info would've been taken seriously. LOL.

omg are they clones? This is like the Matrix - or North Korea! :fear:
No, they are affiliates. Newsreaders read the news off teleprompters. The local stations probably get canned script with the stories they buy from some central source, and the newsreaders just read it. Much easier and more efficient than each station having to employ someone to write the script individually.

NTSB now has a sence of humor. Too bad they probably fired that guy.
I would disagree. It was a tragedy where lives were lost in a horrific way. To pull a prank like that is in extremely bad taste. Imagine how the families of the deceased felt seeing someone make a joke about the crash that killed their loved ones.

If you think a racist joke in this situation is just someone having a "sense of humor", then your mind is f***ed up.

The sequence of names is a narrative: "something's wrong...we're too low....holy fuck.....crash bang....oww, it hurts"

I laughed when I saw it,. It was one those laughs where I'd go "no, no, no" and then start laughing again. Just like when Vancity Cwoboy asked what that handicapped golfer's...umm....handicap was. What can I say, I have a darkly, twisted sense of humour at times. So wrong.

It was racist because, no matter if a Korean wrote the names or not, the point was to air it to an American, non-Korean audience, thereby mocking the names.

The fact most Americans don't differentiate between one Asian culture or country and another and most of the names are more Chinese-sounding shows the "joke" is just racist in intent.

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
This is a prime example of how our society (Yes we're as bad as Americans. Just interview some 20-somethings for a job) is becoming so dumb!
Even people who have what where once respected jobs and were expected to be able to read or construct a sentence, can't even do that any more.

That said according to a buddy of mine who was an on air sportscaster for years. he could see it happening.
Normally the news team rehearse the news a couple of times before air but there are times when a breaking news story is put on the teleprompter and the anchor has not seen it before. They are trained to be in a certain zone or headspace when reading so not to laugh, cry or react to the news. Thus they are often on "auto pilot" and simply reading the words put before them and not really interpreting the words like a listener would.
He told me that often during rehearsals the teleprompter operator would inset funny lines or stupid sayings and the newscaster would read them, only to realize a minute later what they had read when everyone was rolling on the floor laughing. Everyone in the newsroom knew the one person you didn't want to piss off was the teleprompter operator. They could make your life hell.

Cheers

They were worried that the racial play on words would affect their image. I guess having 4 pilots on board, coming in too steep, under the correct speed, on a sunny day, wasn't enough to affect their image.
It was a tragedy that should not have happened. now they are trying to blame the plane. I know we will get more later as all this stuff is on the flight recorders.
