Jodie - it's not just Vancouver that dislike Toronto - the WHOLE country does. Blame it on the CBC, the Globe and Mail and the National Post. These media outlets are Toronto-centric seeming to show almost anything else in the country as unworthy unless it is to show how inferior everywhere else is. Then there are our politicians. Because Ontario is so vote rich they pander to Toronto's every wish and whim and often seem to ignore everywhere else. We MOCK Toronto partly out of jealousy and partly as a defence mechanism.Nothing personal. Hell, half the people in Vancouver are from Toronto.

We are also friendlier than Hawaiians. They are a mean bunch.

Unless you live here and then you see the humour.

Vancouver is great because the people who were born here or immigrated here made it great. Asian, East Indian, European, whomever. The fact that Vancouver has playboy bunny looks is irrelevent.

If you say so.

Whether you find fault or praise for a given location. HOME is just that home.

WELL SAID, KEV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't traveled throughout Canada, but people here in Vancouver are much friendlier than in any of the major cities in the States (I have been to most of them). In the big cities in the States, people are very suspicious and negative when someone says hello or asks for directions.

I have been here a bit more than a year and am amazed at how friendly strangers are to me. I definitely find it contagous and end up being friendlier in return.

I have traveled throughout the world and the only other place I have seen on 4 continents that compares in friendly locals is New Zealand.
I totally agree with you, zlmmm,
I worked in the eastern states once a few years back..., I was being nice holding the doors of restaurants and malls for some older folks..., they just looked at me and walked out, seemed thinking that I was going ot rob them...,
and the daying "HI" thing..., when I said "HI" to them...., they usually did not say anything back, just looked at you and walked away...
I think a lot of them are too self centre, always thinking that they are the best (of course, not all A are like that, but a large majority of people are like that)

Okay, I have to ask... why is it that westerners feel the need to insult Toronto and Torontonians constantly? Since I moved here a few months ago, I have heard nothing but negative sentiments about the east.
Oil and Water, east and west, black and white.... they all have their places.
